Suboxon

My husband has been on this medication for about 3 years now, i hear so many people saying how it has helped but i feel like its just another addiction.  When i was younger i was into everything you can think of but but husband did the same thing and i've figured out he has got an addictive personality.  His doctor just allows this to continue, i understand when your addicted to OC'S (what he used to take) that you need help but this has been going on for 3 years, i have heard its suppose to be like a 6 month treatment.  My husband isnt addicted to OC'S anymore, he is addicted to suboxon.  My question is: how do i need to go about getting him off?  If he doesnt have anymore and isnt able to get some he will find friends to get it, its just kinda sickning.

I agree. If he wants to just stay on it I think he would be better off on lower dose methadone.

It's good to see posts about sub bc people don't realize they should only use it short term for very tough habits like Herion or methodone and only for short time.  Real addicts become addicted when using it longterm.

He has to want to get clean first.   You are right  --- Sub is extremely addictive and if he has been on it for three years, it will take a major effort for him to get clean.  He can do it b/c there are many people on this site who were on it for years and managed to take their lives back.   I hope he will seek help.  A good start is to begin to read (and perhaps even post) on this site.  It was a real eye opener for me and was very instrumental in my getting clean.   I wish you well as you seek to help your husband.
