Suboxone Question

Is it possible to use small amounts of suboxone for like a week or two just to get through the detox of opiates from medication, then quit the suboxone and feel better? I don't want to use a lot of the suboxone and get dependent on it. I was just curious if I could use it while getting of oxycodone, I know there will be some withdrawals, but will this help reduce the wd's if I take small amounts for like two weeks to avoid the cold turkey opiate wd?

Basically what I am trying to say is, while I take suboxone and not the oxycodone, will I be detoxing the oxy out of my system while taking small doses of suboxone? I will be taking like one mg every other day. Im not that terribly addicted to oxy, im just trying to have some kind of crutch so I am able to work and go to class ect.. Just don't want full-blown oxy wd's

Yes its very important.  Sub should be used under a doctor's care.  Its nothing to fool around with.  Be very careful with sub.  It is itself a strong opiate.  Stronger than most standard painkillers out there.

That being said, what you are asking is somewhat possible.  Regardless there is no easy way out and you will likely experience some withdrawal no matter what you do. Think about a detox center.  You usually go in anywhere from 5-7 days.. most places use small amounts of sub the first 5 days then send you home.

What will you do next?  Withdrawal is tough but its not as though as staying clean once you feel better.. Are you in school?  How about some counseling? There is help out there and available if you seek it.  Addiction is a symptom of some other issues. Get to the bottom of that and you will be better off.

I understand it in a lot of ways.. there are people who come on to get info on how to use - not looking for help.. then we have people who really need help.. there is a thin line between hurting and helping I guess.. but I dont see an issue with answering questions like these.. its just sharing and hopefully helping.  We give tapering advice on here (or maybe not anymore??) regarding tapering off your DOC.. so I see no probolem with giving sub tapering suggestions.. Dont know though.. I see it both ways I guess.. the forum needs to protect itslef from any liability.. but at the same time there are people genuinely need help and have questions.. so...

as long as I dont become dependant on the suboxone will the oxy detox while I am taking the suboxone? thats really what I meant. I am honestly not taking much at all. like 2mg of suboxine everyother day. I know its a stong opiate, but thats not really my question. I have withdrawl before and what I am trying to do is have a minimal withdrawl compared to the last cold turkey off oxy. I figured if I did small amounts of suboxone and not abuse it, in two weeks ill be better off? Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Thats what I understood suboxone was for, I know its not a magic pill but as long as im not on the oxy and taking tiny dosages of suboxone to sleep ill be fine.

2 weeks might be a little long.. this is why its important to see a doctor and get a plan into action that is best for you.  Generally the acute w/drawal/deotx from oxy will last about 3-5 days, not more than 7 days.  I wouldnt use the sub much longer than that.  How long are you off oxy and on sub now?  2mgs is still a fairly decent amount of suboxone.. do your research on sub.. bupenorphine (the opiate in suboxone) is very strong.. pound for pound stronger than oxy... in my opinion your playing with fire.. it can become a dependence before you know it.

Again, this is why its best to only use suboxone maintenace through a qualified GOOD doctor who will do what is right for you in a treatment plan.  Good luck.
