Substance Abuse

I have recently learned that my spouse is shooting up his prescription pain pills. He has admitted that he has a problem and wants to enter into rehab to get help with his addiction but he is scare and worried that because he is a nurse that he will be reported to the state and lose his nurses license. Can anyone please help me and let me know if this is in fact something that can happen to someone who is trying to get help? We were in a serious car accident at the hands of a drunk driver in 2008 and he broke his neck, arm and almost lost his leg. He's been on prescription pain pills ever since. We want him to check into rehab but we can't afford for him to lose his nurses license.

Send a private message to "snakejones" and ask her for help, she may not see this message.  Hopefully a member will be along who can help, this is why I suggested putting a really relevant subject line to your message like "Can RN have license revoked for substance treatment?" this way the nurses would quickly see your question rather than "substance abuse". Hang in there and hopefully someone will respond.

You better call a rehab center and ask them. If you don't give them your name they won't know who you are but you might get the answers that you need.

Hi - I can't answer your question but wanted to respond so this gets bumped up to the top again.  Maybe you could post what state you live in so the other members who could answer would have the info.  Keep watching your thread and someone will be along to respond, if you see your question slipping down the page just repost an update and it will pop back up at the top.  Depending on peoples schedules sometimes they are only on at certain times.  A good member for you to check with might be snakejones - she is a wealth of information.  Best of luck hon.
