Supplements/vitamins to help diazepam withdrawl

Hi there
I was addicted to many things including diazepam for many years and detoxed 7 years ago and can't believe that I'm in the position of withdrawing again after taking large amounts since July this year.
I had been buying from online pharmacies and am self detoxing as I have a large amount left and can't access drug treatment centres.
I have 10 mg tablets and am stabilised(if that's what you can call it,) on 30 mg a day.
I got through to a doctor by phone at a local drug centre for advice, on how to withdraw, who said it varies from person to person on the time it takes at each reduction stage but advised me to split pills and drop by 5 mgs every 1-2 weeks until I get down to 5mg and then stop.
I really would like some advise on any vitamins or supplements that may help my withdrawal symptoms (anxiety, difficulty sleeping) and maybe help my nervous system and GABA receptors deal with change.
I've heard vitamin b complex is good for nervous system and if so when to start taking?
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated,I have support and am going to na for extra support and just trying to stay positive after reading so many nightmare stories of withdrawal on the internet which  make me more nervous,
Kindest thanks,
Mark

Just wanted to chime in and give you some support..I came off of Klons about over a year ago with my Methadone that was prescribed and Adderral that was not. I have had w/ds from the other opiates before but this one was a long and hard one. I know from this day and reading on here for a long time that it was becasue of the Benzo. I am glad that You are doing a nice taper. I sure wish the Heck I would of. I would for sure start all the Vit/Min and drink tons of water and get those electrolytes going too. There is this powder drink called "CALM". It is a relaxing Magnesium supplement..It helps balance out your calcium intake and restores healthy magnesium levels. My anxiety was on the moon for so long that I also stayed away from Caffeine and Sugars for awhile..I wish you the best and I think you will be just fine becasue you are doing this in a good way..The best to you.

..."and feel hopeful on leaving meetings"... what do you mean?

I wouldn't change the Zoloft dose just yet-
Always read ALL labels. Kava Kava, St. John's Wart, Sam E, Melatonin, too, should be avoided and there may be others-
The amino acids are more of a replacement so once you're through with the taper you could begin those. But the Vits and minerals you can begin now.

Don't over think things. Try to live more in the moment so you can enjoy your life in the meantime.

Thank you for your support and information it is much appreciated :-)
Will be starting reduction this Thursday and was wondering if I should start supplements now or a little later when the withdrawal effects get worse?
The multivitamins you mentioned sounds good and makes sense am just worried about some of the amino acids as I forgot to mention I'm also on Zoloft 50mg a day and have read that this may have interactions, also feeling jittery is something I really want to avoid.
I have read up on theanene and this sounds promising although it advises a time limit on use and as my taper may take some time am not sure wether to wait a little.
Was wondering if increase in Zoloft might help ?but have reservations about increasing another drug dosage!
I'm finding na a great support and feel hopeful on leaving meetings,am just worried about when I am a bit further along with my taper but one thing I'm learning is to stop worrying about the future and look at what I can do day by day.
Again a massive thank you for your time and support :-)

I'm on Valium 40 mg I can go to 20 next day if have to but I switched from kpins 2 months ago bc of intercystial cystitis. It was take kpin for anxiety and a muscle relaxer and antihistamine or Valium I choose one pill over three no win here ptsd recent abuse caused the condition and need a benzo to deal and a muscle relaxer to not pee 50x a day so harm reduction for me was ditching kpin 3-4mg and oxybutin geodon and visteril and dropping two mg of subs to 4mg.we all do best we can I try to harm reduce.

Hi Mark and welcome.  I'm on day 13 of opiate WD and tapering off Xanax at the same time.  I think the Benzo WD is harder and lasts longer.  I'm tapering too fast due to being almost out of pills and have an apt w/ new dr. that I've been honest with on Tues.  My previous dr. cut me off with no taper or recovery plan; so humane, right.    I'm hoping the new one will help me with a good safe taper plan.
Look up the Ashton manual; I found it on here- it's all about Benzo tapering and their effects on the body.  Someone else on here also suggested a site called Benzo Buddies, but I haven't had a chance to check that out yet.  The Ashton seems really good from what I've read so far.
Good luck and keep posting and reading; this site is full of wonderful supportive people.

Hi Mark- Welcome. You came to the absolute best place so now you can stay off the internet and stop reading horror stories.

The taper off should be slow over a long period of time so you're on track there. As far as vitamins: Yes, the B vitamins are excellent! Check out the Health Pages by scrolling down and read The Thomas Recipe and The Amino Acid Protocol. That will give you an idea of what to take and you can tweak it to your own personal plan. Some amino acids can make you jittery so you can just eliminate what doesn't feel right.

I love magnesium; it's great for your nervous system. Also, Vit C and I take 100mg per day.   L theanine has a lot of benefit, as well. Just do your reading and you'll find what you need.

I'm sure you know that a good diet and moderate exercise is important. You're already involved with NA and that is THE most important thing. Please keep posting. You'll get a lot of support here. Benzo withdrawal isn't easy but tapering nice and slow is the secret of success.
