Surgery next week w/o meds?

I am on day 4 CT from hydrocodone. I am determined to beat this and not go back. I'm having carpal tunnel surgery next tues. Had the right hand done in December, which was a good excuse to get meds. Can I do this outpatient surgery w/o meds? I don't want to withdraw again. I don't want to chase the monster all over again and begin using. Any advice?

Well, you'll get meds for the procedure, they'll insist on that. But, you can just use Motrin for the post op phase and actually, many people do just fine with THAT along with ice to the surgical site for 24 hours.

Sometimes, the anesthesia person just uses a touch of Versed and no narcotics so just ask and explain your position.
