Congrats for pitching the pill, next time don't pick it up...maybe just kick it out of sight...... misery loves company, very aprapos ~~ as for the two that offered you pills, next time tell them what you really think (now that you've had time to think about it and talk about it)
You did EVERYTHING RIGHT , don't get me wrong, this is a GREAT post and so helpful to all of us, but as you grow in sobriety, it's a good rule to not ever tempt yourself, and no longer pick that **** off the ground and it feels so good to call a spade a spade and crush those that would put your very ife at risk. The best defense is a strong offense.
Lisa, , I am trying to figure out this whole addiction thing. I have come to realize how sneaky addiction can be. I recently was at my mothers house, and I knew her husband has taken pills on occasion. I wanted to look through their medicine cabinet also. I really wouldn't take them again, not sure why I wanted to look. I didn't look through the cabinet..
AWESOME!!! I don't think I could have done that at this time. Woot woot for you!!!
great job Beckers. Active addicts try to recruit us back to their side, as misery loves company. I know when I was drinking, I tortured a friend who was getting sober. I drank in front of her, etc. Evil.
On Saturday, I thought about visiting my uncle. He is 91. He is suffering from a bit of dementia. All of a sudden, I want to sit with my uncle and hear about his World War 2 stories again? Nope, I was gonna peak in his medicine cabinet. I stayed home. Within an hour, my temptation cravings went away.
Temptation will always be there, it how we handle it that makes us a success.
Hi, yes, this time around I am using an addiction therapist. I was very active in AA about 4 years ago, I have yet to go back to the rooms. I have carried and use the basics of the AA program. I loved AA, for it got me sober from alcohol. i am not having a desire to go to an AA meeting at this time. I am attending smart recovery meetings though. Thank you for being so involved on this site. People like you are what keeps it going! :)
Perfect example of having your guard up!
Both pitching to pill and turning the offers down.
Congrats to you!!
I am very impressed..Good Job..Hey I miss working in the casino. I started at the age 17 when I moved out of my parents house and away from the area and worked in all areas in the casinos off and on for years..Congratulation!!!
Thanks guys, I just wanted to share with other addicts that could appreciate how hard that was to throw the pill away. I just had to share with you guys! Thanks for being here and I am going to be trying to help others on this site with their struggles. Nothing better for me than talking to other addicts...
You showed more strength than most. I couldn't have done what you did. Be very proud of yourself, and stay away from those a s s h o l e s who tried to give you meds.

that was right action from working on being an awesome you. I've spent enough time in casinos to understand. you are amazing. Wow, you are a model of how to move forward, despite temptation. Keep helping those who struggle, we need people like you to stay clean. Wow, I am really inspired.
you are two weeks, 14 days clean and you are moving forward.
one step, one day at a time is how you stay clean.
today you will not use. each day you have to make that commitment to yourself.
have you been to any support groups? have you been able to look for any counseling?
so proud of you, so happy for you.
