How Long Will The Roxy Withdrawls Last?

Hi, I’m 32 year old female. I have been taking 2 to 4 30mg roxys for about 8 months. I decided to quit cold turkey. I have actually been doing okay. My husband has been helping me a lot. The first 4 days felt like I walked thru hell drenched in gasoline. After that it got easier. Well I woke up today and it s day 9 and I feel like I’m back on day 3. I’m so tired, I’m hurting, and my husband litterally had to help me go to the bathroom and shower. Idk if I’m doing this right. I know i did wrong and took them for awhile and it’s not going go away easy. I just want to know some of your experiences...how long did it take. Oh and I forgot to mention I overdose on these pills. I took two and fell asleep. Next thing I know I’m the back of an ambulance with them asking me what I took. I decided to quit that day. I almost died. Can someone give me some advice or even just pray for me. Thank you guys for listening.

Hi, welcome. You are right on track w/ still feeling like sh--.  It's takes weeks to even begin to feel physically "normal." Look up the Thomas Recipe and follow what it says. It will help a bit. So will getting your endorphins up: exercise even if you can only walk to the mailbox. Force yourself.

The MOST important thing you can do is to get into aftercare. Once we put down the drugs, then we're just addicts w/o the drugs. I cannot even tell you how I tried to get on with my life and feel fine w/o any help once I quit opiates. Only to go right back because the depression, confusion, and inability to deal was too much. Most of us do NA/AA. It'ts been the only thing that has kept me clean and also sane. I have  4 years and 3 months clean.

Check in and let us know how you're doing (that will help you, too!) Hang in there.

Wow! 4 years and 3 months!!! Congratulations!!! I am now on my 13 say and I’m feeling a lot better. I actually got up and went to a 12 step meeting . I felt really weird. Everyone knew each other and were talkin. Amongst themselves and I stayed in the back crying like a baby. I did t go back cause no one spoke to me and someone even laughed at me. I couldn’t wait to get out of that. Now I’m having problems with keeping myself busy. I’m at home and don’t know what to do. I walk, and read. I even try watching movies but can seem to stay focused. Do you have any recommendations for vitamins that help with energ? Oh and I just want to say thank you. You took the time out to help me and I appreciate you for that.
Sorry, you had that experience but honestly that is a very common first experience. Most newcomers sit in the back and cry and feel totally and completely self-conscious. Every single person in that meeting felt exactly like you once. The reason they know each other is because they keep going to meetings. Try again. If not that one, go to a different one.  I can't even begin to tell you how angry I was (for a long time, too) in the meetings. Angry about how grateful everyone was, how happy everyone seemed, how no one was feeling what I was feeling, how I was an addict and how to do this sh--. But it changed. Our minds get clear. Our rational thinking comes back. At day 13 your brain is going crazy and still will be for a while. I remember that feeling of having free time (now that I wasn't high, there seemed to be so much time.) But meetings, the program will center you and give you a blueprint for living. As they say, your best thinking got you into this position, so may as well listen to those that came before you.
