Ambien and seizures

I have taken ambien 5-10 a night for insomnia related to menopause for the past two years.  For two nights in a row I did not take any and had a grand mal seizure in the morning.  Has anyone else had a seizure when not taking ambien as they had???

I never had a seizure from it, but you are not supposed to take it long term. It is meant to be taken short term to help you learn to sleep.

I suggest you see your doctor right away.

there are many medications that may induce seizures when discontinuing and ambien is one of them. however, i would not rely on that alone to diagnose the source of the seizure. agree with ibkleen. you need a followup to your physician so they may rule out any other medical problem that may be the cause.
