heroin detox/rehab

My stepson is going on his 7th day of heroin detox. He spent 5 days at the John Muir Hospital. He has smoked pot and is around other 20 year olds smoking pot. I said that this is wrong and he said the counselor said to only worry about detoxing the heroin. Is this correct?

I'm also a ex Heroin Addict.. No counselor in that setting would ok pot use.. even if it were legal.. The whole detox process is getting all drugs out of your system.. Just the fact of getting high tells me you are more serious about your Son's recovery then your Son.. I do not mean this to sound harsh at all and I do apologize if it dose but to get clean from Heroin requires a lot of changes, a lot of times relocation.. You have to want it for yourself for it to work..

No it's not correct....I think your stepson must have either 'misunderstood' what his counselor said or he heard what he wanted to hear.
