Today is the day

So I posted lastnight about weaning myself and wanting to go cold turkey. Well today I took a couple and it made me sick! So I flushed what I had left! So today I realized that I dont want to wean I just want to stop! I am ready! So this is it, no more. I am done! Motivation and encouragement would be greatly appreciated :) thanks to all of you that have been talking with me. It really helps to hear your advice and stories. Today is the first day of the rest of my life, I am excited to start living again.

I am so happy you are choosing you and not the pills. Take it one hour at a time, stay hydrated, post if your freaking out or not and just know you are not alone. Addicts helping other addicts is the most powerful tool we can use when fighting addiction.
My first day, I didn't know how I was going to get through one day without my pills...49 days later, I can't believe I lived that way.
We have gone to great lengths to feed our addiction. But like you said, you no longer have to live that way.
You can be totally honest here. We can relate to it ALL!!!
Hang in there.

I must have quit a dozen times or more and suffered through withdrawals in the worst way. Didn't know about this forum or the Thomas Recipe during those times so I just took immodium and hung on.

I've been clean about 1 year now ( in 5 days) and when I quit last time I too had that feeling like I was just sick of them (Vicodin) and for a few months the thought of actually ingesting them made me nauseated.

Sounds like that's where you're at now. You can and will succeed as long as you don't forget that you are an addict and starting getting ideas that you've reached a point to where you can now "control" your usage.

I don't post everyday, but I do come to this site everyday and that has made a huge difference in getting to the other side.

Good luck, I'm proud of you and know you can do this.

That is the point that you need to get to - you need to get sick and tired of being sick and tired.  So is today or tomorrow your Day 1?  You have a great attitude and I know you can do this.  A good attitude is very important.

Please see my story below. Tomorrow will be my first full day clean. I have included notes in my phone for daily encouragement that will be sent to me via my calendar at random times. I also have found some quotes to live by and making myself exercise. I'm in your boat and wish you the best. I have no one for encouragement because they do not have a clue. Best of luck.
