Tramadol w/d - Depression

Its day 6 since I have taken any Tramadol.  I have been using it for about 2.5 months strictly for its mood enhancement.  I loved the energy it gave me.  I was up to taking 11-13 a day or EOD.  I realized I had a problem and decided to quit.  Day one was easy, it was still in my system.  Day 2 wasnt bad until that night, didnt sleep at all.  Day 3 was horrible, high high anxiety, depression, flu like symptoms.  Day 4 was a little better, I actually slept some surprisingly since I havent slept more than 4 hours a night since.  So now its day 6 and while my stomach is def better, and the anxiety isnt so bad but wow, the depression and insomnia still haunt me.  I take nyquil, melatonin, and trazadone all at the same time and Istill dont sleep.  And the depression is really brutal.  Any idea on when the brain starts functioning again? I hate thinking I am going to feel this low for much longer

So now its day 7, exactly one week since I quit.  I have to say, my mind is starting to come back more and more each day.  Yesterday was bad, but today didnt seem so daunting.  Maybe it was because I was at work and that took my mind off it.  Sleeping is still a nightmare, no pun intended.  I get my trazadone script filled today and might try to take 100mgs tonight.  OTC stuff doesnt do much for me.  Each day really seems to bring significant changes.

I live alone so being at home seems a little cold and lonely at the moment, your not sure what to do with yourself when you arent taking the pills.  Its like you try to remember what you did before you started abusing it.  Going to try to attend a yoga class tonight to help me sleep, and just keep me busy.

Yea, I usually never took the trazodone when I took tramadol.  I guess I didnt need to since the tram made me tired.

I worked overseas on and off for about 3 years.  This past time I worked in the middle east for a couple months and was taking Valium all the time to sleep.  You could get it like candy over there.  I honestly had no idea how addicting it was until I came home.  I didnt even bother to bring any back, honestly never thought of a withdrawal.  Then after about a week it started happening...couldnt sleep at all.  If I got 4-6 hours in a night it was great.  I am lucky I didnt have more issues.  Went from taking about 50mg a night to nothing, cold turkey.

Anyways, ever since then I just havent been a great sleeper.  And that was about 5-6 months ago.

I'm glad you are stopping.  The trazadone and tramadol together was NOT good!  The sleep will come back.  Try not to get too worked up about it.  I've been off since March, and I'm not going to lie and say I always sleep great, but I have learned to deal with it when I don't!

Tramadol is a mean drug.  I've been on just about everything pharmaceutical that there is, and it and ambien were the two hardest to kick!  You can do it!!!!  : )

Yea, I have no intentions of taking it again.  It really did a number on my stomach, I cant imagine what long term usage would do.  Hard to believe how easy it is to get online, I guess I just didnt think that something you could order could be so potent.

Yea, the sleeping is real tough, mainly because I deal with sleeping problems all the time anyways.  I was prescribed the trazadone for sleep way before I even messed with the tram.

Thanks for the kind words, cant wait to feel normal again...

It's because tramadol works like an anti depressant an ssri AD as well as for pain .I am glad you stopped when you did you were taking it at a level you could easily of had a seizure .All of the symptoms you are feeling are normal with tram wd .I would not continue to take nyquil ,melatonin and trazodone at the same time either honestly at least for me I found my sleep pattern came back easier when I didn't take other meds ..It will be getting better soon just give it a bit more time .....keep going you can stay off it.

Oh yea, forgot to add, is it normal to sweat like crazy during sleep?  I honestly wake up dripping wet, like I just got out of the shower.  I have to change the sheets and let the bed air out its so insanely bad.
