Tramadol withdrawal depression

I was on Tramadol for 4 years. I was up to 400 mgs a day. I tapered down to 50 mgs a day, but I don't think I did it long enough. I decided I'd had enough of taking them. I then just stopped. The physical withdrawals were awful. I was fortunate that I was off work for the first 12 days after my last pill. Now I've been off of them completely for about 16 days. The thing that is really bad and I am going to have to get some professional help for is this awful depression. I'm going to be looking for another doctor. I got the feeling that he thought I was over exaggerating my withdrawal symptoms. I haven't talked to him about my feeling depressed. And this is awful. I've never felt anything like this ever in my life. I'm trying to work and its a nightmare right now. I'd advise anybody who gets a prescription for this drug to run. It is a devil of a drug. I miss it and hate it. The double whammy of opiate type withdrawal and anti depressant withdrawal happening at the same time is a nightmare. I don't want to go back, I've got over two weeks under my belt without it. I don't want to ever go through this again. There is no question but that I need help. I live in Michigan, I saw that a female doctor on here was practicing in the Detroit area. Perhaps if you read this you can help me. I work at one of the big three, and I'm on 12 hour shifts. I feel as if I am not able to handle this and work at the same time. I'm doing my best but I'm in an awful state right now.

Yes every thing mlajl said is true tramadol is an opiate! They just put it on the opiate list and because of it having an anti depressant it is a mother to get off of! And they created this drug to not be an opiate and to replace pain meds with opiates in them! Nice try!!
It just takes a long time for the recovery see your dr. about the depression that is a killer and you will need help with it.

I've heard horror stories of people trying to get off of and withdrawals from tramadol.. bless your heart.. have heard it discribe as the pill from hell! People say it takes about 6 months to feel "right" again.. your in for a long haul for sure.. if u was prescribed this med, they can offer u a pill to help u recover.. what it's called I don't know.. I have occasional stomach pain that I need heavy pain meds for when it's at its worst.. and i asked for a strong non opiate. . They gave me tramadol.. I asked about the pill here and everyone warned me off them.. when I called the doctor back later, he told me they don't have anything to help with withdrawals from vicoden etc, but they do have a medicine to help with withdrawals from tramadol.. I know nothing about this pill other then it exist... but if u need help, your doctor may be able to prescribe it.. hopefully someone on hear who have experienced this with u will know your best option.. good luck to u! Oh, found out through this site, tramadol IS A OPIATE!!! Again, good luck to you!
