IRD
I am 45 year old mom just had 2 babies 1 year apart after my last baby, I had a real bad C section, my baby is now 2 years old and still taking percocet,  I have been in alot of pain after my C section I have tried getting off it and I feel really sick when I try to stop.  First time ever that I have been addicted to something.  I am terrified that I might not be around for my babies.  I need to get off this medication does anyone know what to do? or how to do it? I have not gotten to the point of buying it on the street,  I get a prescription from my Doctor every month but now I do not know how to stop, I asked my doctor and he refered me to another doctor I will be seeing that Dr. on Tuesday.  I am scare of the outcome.  I do not get high in this all I feel is no pian so that right there gives me the energy I need to get around and do my duties.  I use to love to drink Wine or beer and I don't do that anymore just because I take these strong medication all the time.  I strated taking 1 pill per day but now I am taking 4 to 5 pills per day,  Please help me

IRD- you have a great attitude and it looks like you are already past the hard part. Now comes the real hard part- staying clean and not using the pills to get that "energy" or take away that pain when it gets bad. I would call and cancel the refill so you don't have that option. You are not out of the woods yet as your body has not begun to make it's own endorphins and you will most likely feel some depression, exaggerated pain feelings, and lack of energy. Your body and brain will fight you stopping the pills and tell you it's ok to take "just a few"- it is NOT! And if you do will lead back to an everyday thing quickly.

I would not take the tramadol. it is addictive and very hard to detox from also due to it's ingredients- please be careful as you don't want to trade one addiction for another..

As for eebb26- you will not die in your sleep or most likely do not have liver problems but you can get bloodwork done to check. I was taking 30-35 of the same pills and detox is not fun but will pass- most importantly is staying off them which is why aftercare (counseling, AA/NA) is important as you probably need to discuss the real problem which is your grieving for your father...  Hang in there, and keep up hope.

Your problem sounds alot like mine the only differene that my a pain is because of bad C section 2 years ago.  I'm doing great this is my 4th day without the pill.  I do have a prescription waiting for me but I decided not to go an pick it up.  I do not want to get up everyday and put a pill in my mouth the moment my feet hit the floor.  I am doing much better now is still hurting like hell but I know ths pain will go away.  I went to see my Dr, today he suggested i take tramadol 50mg for my legs I am in so much pain I was out of work today and I have no energy what so ever.  I need all the energy I could get I have 2 toddlers that are driving me insane with all this pain and having to take care of them plus a job.  So please Eebb26 try your best to tapper down.  My finished my pills on Friday today is TUesday and I feel I am almost there.

I'm on 10/325 2 pills every 3-4 hours. Total of 10-15 a day.  I know I've been taking more then I'm suppose to and am ashamed. I'm also a mother of two and scared. I just started tapering a couple days ago. Today I only had 1/4 the Amt of pills I normally have cuz I'm almost out. Ive felt like crap all day. Ive been taking them for a year and abusing about 3-4 months.( right after I lost my dad) I just confessed to my primary dr and he is doing blood work on my liver. I will know tomorrow. I'm so scared. How did this happen to me? I've never let anything control me b4. I don't have symptoms of liver failure but I'm a nervous wreck n think I'm going to die in my sleep. Help anyone

Something happened today, I got my last prescription today of Percocet, when I went to the pharmacy to pick it up they told me that I can not get it because it is a controlled substances and I am not up to until the 13 that is 5 days from today.  That means I am going CT for 5 days.  I prepare myself with Immodium, night quil. Motrin.  Any other suggestions for me.  I will not pick up the prescription on Wed.  If I go CT for 5 days there is no use of going back to the bad habits.  I am very happy this actually happen

U will survive?

I look around the world and see so muc gone wrong..in my job i see so much suffering...and i read here sometimes and I almost feel a bit put off at the fear folks have over feeling flu like for a few days..or crappy...whatever

but I remember when i quit and i was afraid...mostly over nuttin as it really was just a mild headache and fatigue for 3 days and back to work on monday

it is staying clean and not the flu that should be a persons focus,,,but it is hard to know this now...when the fear of the flu is enveloping your being...and I can empathize as I was there once..it is just in looking back that i see how silly i was

u will survive this few days of feeling crappy...and ,remember, there r children with terminal illnesses who will feel crappy until the day they pass from this earth...it helped me to remember that

I spoke to my doctor today he wants me to taper down in 2 week
s, he feels I could do it he feels that I could do this without any medication, I will listen to him.  I only have a few pills anyways so I will taper down with what I have and see what happens  My boss is aware he said I am able to take a few days if I need to,  I am sure I could do it, The fact that I do not want any more pills is enough for me.  I know I will feel crappy but if that is what it takes than that is the price I have to pay,  I am scare but I feel I could do this.  I really want to thank everyone that has reached out.  I will continue writing and expressing my feelings when I start feeling crappy,  I did write a lot of all the different advices that I have read.

HI and welcome to the forum you have came to a great place to help with this ....first off your situation is not helpless a mater of fact your habit is fairly small but enough to feel it
see if you can do a taper from your doctor this works for a lot of people  it draws it out over a longer period but the withdrawals are less sever the problem is it takes a lot of discipline to stick to a taper....you cant yo /yo your dose up and down because your feeling dope sick
this is why so many just jump off and get it over with...C/T takes around 4 to 5 days
but in the end your no longer chained to a pill bottle...if you read the other posts you will find out just what it takes to go this route my sugjestion to you is try a dr advised taper if you  cant do that then will just have you jump off....we can walk you threw it there are many successful storys doing it both ways on this forum keep posting to let ua know whats going on and so we can support you in your efforts good luck and God bless......Gnarly

Also, prepare your self for sleepless nights, so get any rest that your body will allow you, even if its a 10-20 min nap. Every little bit counts. Good luck and god bless!

To taper is to go to a lower dose each day slowly. Your doc will be able to set that up correctly for you. All those symptoms are normal. Asked your doc to give you something for the stomach pain, like bentyl. Get immodium OTC or prilosec OTC, grab a multi-vitamin, b-12, drink plenty of water, and take hot showers for body aches and pains. You can do this, so stay strong and the good lord will be with you.

Yes that is what I mean by taper , your doctor will tell you about what he or she thinks is a good taper for you . And what you tell me about your physical symptoms it sounds like  your body is going into withdrawals . It is a really crappy feeling but it wont do any harm to your body  . But I don't think you should just stop taking them at once ! Talk to your doctor and be truthful with him and I am sure he will help you ..Good luck !  Jimmy

I am back to 325 I will talk to my Dr. on Tuesday What do you mean by taper my dose what is that?  To minimize the dose slowly?  I do not take more than one at a time but I am taking it every 3 to 4 hours now,  everytime I try to stop I feel really crampy I feel very cold I get shills and start shaking, my stomachs starts hurting.  I even get real bad cramps in my stomach,  Is that normal is there anything that I need to take to break the addiction.  I really want to be a normal mother,  I want to be happy I aske God everyday for forgiveness and I seriously need a helping hand,  I need the lord to listen to me and help me in everyway possible.  I had no idea how many people are in this addiction, I thought I was alone.  I google the question on how to stop taking percocet and this website came up.  I am so excited because I am learning so much from every body stories and comments.
Thank you Jimmy.
Have you been off you addiction

So you increased the amount of acetaminophen from 325 mils to 650 mils. For example 10/325 or 10/650 = 10 mils of Hydrocodone and 650 of acetaminophen  , correct ? As I see it you're not spiking your dose . (taking 4 at once) so that is good . The rule is no more then 4 grams of acetaminophen  a day , 4 grams = 4,000 Mils. So you are safe there as you are with in the FDA guidelines . If you want to stop you can start to taper your dose . You should consult your doctor on that . But you are on a relatively low dose so now is the time to stop ! You will be sick for a few days so you will need to arrange for some down time . But the reward is you will get your life back and that is worth its weight in gold my friend !  Jimmy
