ADDICTION

I want help with my addiction to painkillers.  I have been abusing them for 30 years.  I have doctor shopped, got in trouble for writing prescriptions, now I'm buying them off the street ( and it leave me broke).  I am sick of it; the withdrawals are horrible.  I have tried one methadone tablet and found how much help it gave me.  It lasted for two days.  I want off this stuff; but I need a doctor that will prescribe methadone and that will monitor my improvement or failure.  I am willing to do drug tests; the doctor check my records monthly; whatever it takes.  I just don't have a car and I live alone.  I have a ride service for 10 round trips a year to take me to the doctor.  Can you help me find a doctor that will help me?  I am 58 years old and sick of this lifestyle.  PLEASE GIVE ME SOME HELP!!!

Come on back! We will be here for you..It is very, very hard to do this alone..Support is a must..I would not go up to the dones unless under a Drs care..I was on the other opiates before I went up to the Dones for 12 years..Dones are much more harder to detox. So if you come back we can share our experiences and hope for a better life for you..I too have used off & on for over 40 years. The grass is greener on the other side..

This is what I could dig up for you. It's a link to Drs. who prescribe Suboxone & Methadone in Alabama.

http://www.methadonedocs.com/methadone-suboxone-doctors/Alabama-Al.aspx

If you do decide to go this way, I would get on the lowest dose of Methadone or Suboxone as possible. These are very powerful narcotics & are the toughest to kick. I would also add that if you are pre - diabetic or diabetic that an extended steady dose of Methadone may cause of worsen this condition. (This is something many clinics and prescribers won't necessarily mention or even know about.)

I still encourage you to consider the above-mentioned possibility of an inpatient or Dr. supervised detox! It's not too late to get your life back. Something to think about, anyway! We're here.

Hi there & thanks so much for reaching out!
Yup, 30 yrs. is a long time to live that kind of life -- (I did too! but I'm clean off of Heroin/Subutex/Heroin now. So, anything is possible if you want it badly enough and you do your homework.)

Have you ever tried a real detox? I mean something you actually plan for & get  support during?

Also, Can you tell us a little bit about where you live? The dose of pills  you're typically on? Also, are you buying Methadone regularly? (I'd be very careful about this! About dosage as well.)

These questions will give us a better read on your situation. You're not alone & you certainly came to the right place. This site is an amazing recovery tool if you use it! We're here & pulling for you.
