I look to my kids and spend time playing with them, I go to other forums I frequent and post or reply to posts.
Sometimes I take pics also.

my cravings are mostly at night, I will dream of something and dream of taking the pills or looking for them and wake up wanting to take one. (mainly the soma, haven't experienced it yet with pain medicine)

You didnt sound boastful to me.  I am the same, I talk to God all the time.  Don't know if it is actually always Praying, but I talk to him anyway.  Nothing absolutely nothing wrong with that!!  He helps me too!!  I clean (try to) lol, I also took up photography as a new hobby.  We moved to a town that has bald eagles here, right down the street from us!!  I never knew they were here in the US..they are amazing and my husband bought a really nice camera and we have heaps of bald eagle pics.  also I love to take pictures of my kids (dogs), flowers, you name it.  Its very satisfying!  I joined a forum specializing in photography and everything involved in it.  Its a blast!  I love to fish also, and can walk outside and fish 20 feet away from me.  Heaven.  hehe.  I also do crosswords and various other puzzles to challenge my brain.  So far, I pretty much suk at most of it lol except crosswords.  These are so good for you to do.  They keep your brain "young", at least thats what ive read.
Hang in there , the cravings do go away with time.  Maybe not completely, but they will...:)  Good luck to you and congratulations :)

I understand what you are saying janvic. and welcome to the forum I'm glad you found us.. I get the feeling you are speaking of when I'm high in the mountains.. I feel closer to the Creator and it gives me Strength and Courage to continue on my road to recovery.. It is Very Good to live with a clear mind.. to not wake up sick.. It is Good to have my awareness back of those around me and the world around me.. I'm very grateful everyday that I have come so far and I thank our Creator everyday in many ways :))

I dont like the way I posted that last one. you guys bear with me Im new at this. What i said sounded boastful even though what I said was the truth for myself. However it is a daily struggle. I still crave but less and less every day.I have had to learn how to plan my days without wondering how to do activities without a pill. When i do them I find that i actually have more fun even though I think about pills. I promise it gets better but sometimes out of the blue i want one so bad. Thats when I get on my knees and pray and that works for me. My mind is clearer than it has been in years. So sorry if i sounded like i had it all together because I do not. I just know I love the Lord with all my heart for the first time because my mind is not numb by hydrocodone.

I pray. That is the only thing that helps me. As a matter of fact it was just me and God when I went through withdrawals. 4 weeks clean. I didnt know how sweet life was until I learned to depend on Him instead of pain pills. STAY BUSY!!!!!!!

This is Wonderful !! You will have to change your name to Pleasedwithmyself lol I would love to view your pics !! The photo journal on our home page is a wonderful way to organize them.. I know when I was in wd and not sleeping I was very grateful for those that put their photos up as I spent many hours on this sight taking in the photos and getting strength through others.. I'm so Happy for you :) I have a wonderful man names Burrpatch to thank for encouraging me through his outdoor scenes,.. it gave me a desire to be out there and to experience these things I had traded for drugs.. Our world gets bigger when doing this as I started the same way around my house my dogs.. my kids are adults and do not like me taking their photo all the time lol so I turned to flowers a a specialty :)

I found out the same thing!! It's weird but I took my camera and was taking pictures of my kids and trees and before I knew it an hour had passed and even the pains I was having was pushed to the back of my mind. I had 118 pictures of just about everything but mostly my kids in "action" shots that still make me smile to think of it. That was a few days ago and I havent picked up my camera since so I think i'm going to start a picture journal everyday then I will be able to keep my mind busy and then one day be able to look back and see how far I came :)

I use photography a new hobby I picked up when I quit.. at first I picked it up as a way to fill the time that I would be using and thinking about using. it also helped me to get out of the house as i had become very reclusive in my addictions.. also taking my dogs out has bought me much comfort from cravings and the anxiety that comes with it.. I'm glad you are here and searching for ways to help you through the cravings.. we all get them and probably will for the rest of our lives but the good news is they come less frequently with time.. I wish you well.. lesa

just anything that keeps you busy, particularly your mind busy. I try word puzzles/games that challenge my brain and make me think hard, read a book or watch a favorite show/movie. OR i can try to help my son with his 1st grade math homework, LOL (Have you seen what they are teaching kids these days?? lol). I also delve further into proofreading work or writing my own stories sometimes to pass the time and use as a distraction.

i had a serious trigger about 2 weeks ago (my abusive ex causing me bad problems again) and omg it made me want to use SO BAD!!!!! After all this time he still has the power to make me curl up into a whimpering ball and makes me want to numb that. BUt I didnt and i fought on. I was a mess for a few days after but Im still here and clean.

I often clean or focus my attention on my kids. Its hard to think about drugs when you are looking at children, for me anyway. Another great one for me is exercise. It gets me moving and makes me feel good. I find anything that gives you a sense of accomplishment after is great for fighting cravings. Best of luck.
