When will this get better?

Today is day 8 of quiting snorting 10 -15 oxy 30's a day for 2 yrs. I'm so so so tired even going to the bathroom is a chore. I didn't expect to fell great after only a week but I did think I would be able to walk to the bathroom without having to lay down. I have no clean dishes no clean clothes and I need to go to the grocery store don't no how I'm going to do it. I am taking vitamins but my energy seems to be getting worse each day instead of better. Really Frustrated !!

Just wanted to chime in n say great job!  When the clock seems to b going in reverse, 8 days is HUGE!  U r doing this!  Stay positive.  It will get better.

Also...just another observation....
It was way awesome to see AshleighAddiction, who is also frustrated, exhausted n on day 8 cheering u on n giving u encouragement.  I would encourage u to give support to others, as best u can.  Helping others is very therapeutic.  Great job to both of u on day 8.  Tomorrow is day 30 for me n the fight is worth it, I assure u!  I feel better every day.

Thanks everyone ! CATUF that was really helpful advice I don't think I was prepared for how bad this was going to be. Being all alone and trying to take care of a 3yr old while going through w/d has not been fun. I also have fibro and chronic fatigue which is what started me down this stupid road to addiction so I no it's going to take time it's just hard trying to take care of my little one when I can barely take care of myself ! On a positive note I did clean the kitchen today so atleast we have clean dishes maybe tomorrow we will have clean clothes. Thanks again for the support

great advice above, i started with walking to living room from bedroom , then forced myself outside for daily walk, first one was just out on porch, but something about being in fresh air helped, then farther and farther until it was around block.
Its tough at first , i also remember first trip to store (middle of night) i picked up cal/mag/zinc supplement, and just getting out was an accomplishment that helped my mind and body, supplements helped tremendously.

Hi  well the ''energy crash'' is very real from high doses of oxy and methadone about all you can do is to force yourself to move around  my wife made made me walk every day  I was just like you going to get up to go to the bathroom seamed laborious it will let up sooner or later you did not become addicted over night nor will you recover overnight the thing here is we dont strive for perfection but rather progress it comes in baby steps try not to get discouraged you can do this it will get better with time a good walk every day will help keep posting for support we all want to see you make it...........Gnarly

Hi. You got good advice. I just wanted to add that when it is written wd's take 5 to 7 days or whatever that is so not true! So I know it's frustrating but maybe adjust your expectations. It will get slightly better soon but as someone on here says, you gotta be ok w/ not being ok for a while. Also, snorting is stronger than swallowing. And oxy is stronger than hydro, I'm sure you know. You were taking quite a bit as well, so you have to be patient:) I think the horrid wd's serves as "payback" and we get reminded of what we never wanna go thru again! For me in sobriety, I can think: at least I'm not in wd's anymore. It has value. You will be there too! Promise!

People swear by L-tyrosine for a boost in energy. I like the 5 Hour Energy drinks myself. Only 1/4-1/2 is good for a boost.

But you need to get up and move too. Couple more days will make a difference too. And another week will be a world of difference. Hang in there. It definitely will start getting better.

Some suggestions that got me over the hump (finally) and into sustained recovery:

as soon as you can, start getting a little exercise . . . the endorphin release will do you a world of good.

drink LOTS of water, gatoraid, and/or green tea

surrender

start going to some NA or AA meetings . . . only go on the days when you used to snort your oxy's.  daily contact with people who have found the sustained recovery that you want will be a huge

read the first four chapters of NA's Basic Text  and the first five  chapters of AA's Big Book.  Both are available on-line

read some of the other great books on addiction/recovery -- a nice one to start with is Staying Clean and Sober (Miller & Miller)

start getting into the spiritual side of recovery.  a book that helped me with this was The Spirituality of Imperfection (Kurtz & Ketcham).

read about (and get prepared for) PAWS . . . Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome.  A good article is available on-line at
http://www.tlctx.com/ar_pages/paw_part1.htm

Make a list of why you want to be free of active addiction, specifying all the bad things that addiction has done to you and the people who love and need you

write a paragraph (or two or more) about what you want your life to be like in sustained recovery

keep a journal and write in it daily . . . the trip from active addiction to sustained recovery is an amazing journey.  much of it is no fun at the time, but it's all important.

whatever you do, don't use at all, no matter what, or you will RETURN TO GO.  the problem is that when we do that, we're not guaranteed another shot at it . . . we can (and many of us do) get stuck using until our addiction takes us to one of the three non-recovery ends . . . jails, institutions, or death.

you can do this!  i did it and i was helpless, hopless, and feeling totally worthless at the

Yes, it does get better.  I know exactly what you mean about everything being a chore, I remember those days well.  Withdrawals are different for each person, and your habit wasn't super long, but long enough, and the amount was significant.  Give it time, I know that is not what you want to hear, but ... it will get better.  You are doing great!

I'm on day 8 also and stuck in the same boat. I'm not sure when it will get better I just hope soon. I also am exhausted from not sleeping and I know the feeling.. leaving my bed is a huge chore everyday. I just know there is no looking back I don't care how long I'm sick for I'm going to keep going and I hope you do to. There are amazing people here that will support .. Encourage .. Give advice and will just listen to you .. I know if it wasn't for them I would of caved on day 6. And here I am day 8! So here I am sitting (to weak to stand lol) in your corner rooting for you! You can do it .. Post as much as you want .. It helps.
