Where am I as far as tolerance? ?? ?? ?

So it's been about two weeks since I have been clean (yay) and I don't ever want to go through withdrawals ever again, I swear on that... But I stopped taking them and I have been in pain for a while... and it's frustrating. I realized what it's like to be in class, again, and in pain; I can't focus or get comfortable. So I started taking them again (oxycodone), but, only about 1/4th of my usual dose (10mg a day) for the past three days.

My question to you is where am I at, in terms of tolerance? If I stop and only take it for my final few exams will that be okay? I only have about 5-6 days of school left and about four exams... Thanks

Hey! Maybe I am rationalizing to get more, but to me I really do feel more comfort in class (the chairs aren't the greatest). I don't mean I get to focus because of the meds, but because of the relief of pain. I always thought if I seen a pain management clinic that they would give me more potent stuff, I am not sure how they work, could someone explain please? I would appreciate it. When I wake up... I can't move right away, I have to slowly get up and stretch; if I wake up from a nightmare I have pulled muscles in the past from getting up too fast. My neck is constantly tightening up and I have to stretch it (its like I have tourrets in my neck because I move it sooo often). I may be an addict, but I know that I AM an addict to pain relief... When exams come I plan on taking 10-15mg that morning before so in class I won't be in discomfort from pain.. . I may be putting this on myself and making it seem to be worse than it is (I probably am, and I have no problem admitting anything, being an addict, etc.). I want to seek alternate ways of relief..

Questions:
Can anyone briefly explain the pain management clinics?
What can I take that isn't addictive, like a non-narcotic? Soma, tramadol? Would propoxyphene be a good alternative to oxycodone?
What are some good procedures to seek? Like acupuncture, chiropractic? I haven't tried any of these.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH BEFOREHAND!!!

I have to agree with sarah, dude - - you are doing what is called "rationalizing" to get some more pills down..........sometime you will figure out that some of us cant do it that way - or you wont - but good luck to you - ya think sitting in class is any harder than being behind a pharmacy counter every day?

You may get better responses with the tolerance thing in the Pain Management forum...

Why are you wondering about your tolerance? If 1/4 of your usual dose is covering the pain... shoudn't that be the only thing that matters? If you only take it during exams for school you shouldn't go thru wds again - but it depends on how much you take, how often you take it, and your metabolism. Not to sound rude - but if you're an addict can you really only take them a couple times over the course of a few days? Perhaps you would best seeing a pain management doctor? Good luck with this and with your exams!

I dont think anyone will tell you to go ahead and take these pills to get you thru your final exams.  Im not trying to be rude here at all but it just sounds like you are trying to convince us that you need to take these.  We are all in stages of recovery and most of us have pain and have found alternatives to pain meds.           sara
