Possible Hydrocodone addiction

I had back surgery almost a year ago and was prescribed Lortab 10mg. I took these for a few months and asked my doctor to reduce the dose to 7.5mg. It is now getting worse. I am currently taking 35-40mg a day and am highly concerned about addition. Should I just stop taking them or seek medical help from doctor?

Love your screen name! Are you abusing them? If your taking them strictly for pain mgt, your probably dependent on them, I don't think I'd call that addiction. However, the withdrawals will still be there. If no longer needed for pain, you could very well just cold turkey it. If you could taper, that'd be good also, I personally could never taper, it was all or nothing for me, lol. Either route you choose, it'd probably be wise to inform your dr. Good luck to you, and stick around here! Take care...

Hi, Is the issue here that you want to quit and  you dont need the  meds anymore? If yes and  youve cut down from the 10,s to the 7.5, you are familar with the tapering process and since your only taking about 4 a day an you might consider a 2 month to stop. If you cant do it alone and have a good relationship with your doctor, then by all means ask his help as addiction is surely a medical condition.
