I'm having bad side effects from starting Elavil  for nighttime and Wellbutrin in the morning. Does anyone get panic attacks and sweating from the combination? I was less depressed with just the Wellbutrin but am taking the Elavil for chronic pain. It helps somewhat but I don't know why I feel worse mentally and it doesn't help to wake up listless and sweating. A new doctor added the Elavil but I don't know if it's worth taking since it only relieves some pain, not all. And I'm sleeping even less than I was. The Elavil does the opposite of making me sleep.

While I have never taken Wellbutrin along with Elavil.....I did take Elavil for a very short period of time several years ago in an attempt to help me with my chronic pain issues.  As you probably know, Elavil is a brand name for amitriptyline and is a tricyclic antidepressant.

I only took amitriptyline for a little over 60 days because I absolutely HATED the way it made me feel the following morning.  I also gained weight (very quickly) while I was on it.  It took me a good 90 days to get thru all the withdrawal syndrome affects and longer than that to get the weight off.

Please go to a site like drugs ******* and use their interaction checker.  It looks to me like it isn't necessarily dangerous to take those two antidepressants together but it also isn't recommended.  Hope this helps a little bit~
