addiction/tramadol

He is hooked on tramadol, have taken him to the docters. I can not get any help for him. When he trys to wean off he gets into withdrawals where he is sick. I wish I could find some one to help him. I afraid he will never get off because he feels like there is no help and we do not know what else to do. He has to work because he has bills to pay. Is there anyway I can get my son on the suboxone through an online med.

Hi!  I know you feel desperate to help your son, but suboxone isn't the route he should go for this one.  You can't get it online either.  My advice would be to have him see a doctor and get a weaning schedule or some meds to help with the WDs.  They can take him off the tramadol and give some other meds to counteract the WDs.  He could certainly do it without the help of a doctor, but it would be hard for him to work at the same time.  If he's getting them from a doctor, they should be happy to help him taper off of them.

I would really stay away from the suboxone.  Tramadol can be dealt with without something that's going to get him even more addicted.  I would take him to the doctor for some help!

Good luck......

Hey,
Couldn't help but reach out to you about going on suboxone. Please do your homework. I was on opiates for 3 years heavy addiction. I ended up going to detox on Christmas. While I was there I met with their psychiatrist who immediately put me on them.  Before my discharge he gave me his office info and gave me my first script for subs. Lucky for me I went online and researched subs. I was shocked and scared because by then I had been taking them for 2 weeks. I was glad that I was skipping my dosages. Even then when I tried to stop I went thru hell all over again!  They have a long shelf life so I was going thru 5x the withdrawls then I went thru with opiates. I slept in my bath tub at nights because my legs and hands would not stop moving. I've always been a positive person who loved life and one night I thought of ending my life. I'm much better now but please know that the withdrawls of subs are horrible. The docs don't tell you that because they are in bed with the pharma companies. Lots of luck!

Hi Ranger, Welcome to the forum. Can you ask his Dr. to adjust his weaning schedule so he doesn't feel such harsh w/d's? How much is he on and how long has he been taking tramadol? I don't have alot of information to offer on this drug, but hang tight, more will be along that have experience and will give support. We've all been where your son is and got thru it. He will too.
