anxiety!!?? Help!!

I hope I'm not alone with this...I've been a long time binger of narcotic pain pills and alcohol...always both.
I'd go a week or two nonstop, then try to get straight....then feel better...and do it again....This has been
my pattern for years. I'm on, like day 7 or 8 clean now, after a pretty hardy 2 day binge, and 4 days before
that, a heavy 4 day binge. I'm feeling a ton of like, deep anxiety, some depression, and like a shakey, tremory feeling
that may also be anxiety.....has anybody had those symptoms while trying to get clean? The anxiety seems to hit
early in the morning....I don't know....its strange...I just want to get well.

I'm the same (re: anxiety ) with or without booze and drugs.

Exercise does help; I like to go to the gym, but lately I've been so depressed I can't  seem to get motivated.  Normally this isn't the case, but hopefully it will pass fairly soon!

Hope you get better 'OhioVicoguy' and stay the course.

Thanks everybody....I appreciate all the shared thoughts....and yes...after years of bingeing, and destroying myself more and more each time....and feeling the pain of trying to get clean each time.....I'm ready....it just has to be done.....or die...all it does is get worse everytime.....even when you think you feel good....and do a one, or two day thing....it takes you right back to the bottom, and the climb up gets harder....Thanks...

Good to see you again. Anxiety is indeed, all too common. Look at the Health Pages for the amino acid protocols. There are some that can reduce anxiety. And exercise fixes quite a few problems.

Depression and Anxiety are two common things which you can experience. I am 3 months clean and I am starting to feel great now. And I thank God for that.

You are not alone so just hang in there and make sure you dont relapse. You need to be strong.

And I agree with what bmc1976 wrote up there. I started taking long walks and that helped me alot.

After detoxing from methadone I suffered for many weeks from high anxiety & even now after two months still can feel it, not as bad as 6 weeks ago but regardless its still kinda comes & goes, but like you, only in the mornings, after 3:p.m it goes away.  I talked with my doctor about this & she claims it,s because after sleeping our brains wake up & our mind starts going into overdrive, negative thoughts are at their highest in the a.m. I find that a brisk walk first thing in the morning works wonders, also some light breathing excersise helps, along with no caffine. Eventually the anxiety will pass, it takes time. Take Care Penelope

I think the number one thing that helped me deal with the anxiety was exercise. Even if it's just a brisk walk. When I was finished exercising I felt so much better plus had even more energy than before. Just hang in there. It will get better!
