any clean methadone people out there?

Hi all,
this is a somewhat desperate question.  i am on day 30 with no methadone, and have used small amounts of Sub here and there but none since monday.  i am still feeling pretty sickly.  can anyone tell me when this is going to get better?

again, i want to say that 2mgs of Sub kept me from feeling sick for a full 3 days, although admittedly i still had cravings to get high.  but yesterday the cravings just turned back into plain old sickness.  still, that Sub is very amazingly and deceptively strong.  it may not feel that way because you don't get the same rush as other opiates, but 2mgs for 3 days!  just some info for the Sub people.

love to all,
Kova

LOL....I was drawn to your post because I consider myself a "CLEAN METHADONE USER"..in that I am on methadone and have been for several years, but have NEVER touched another drug since starting my program. I now know from reading your post that's not what you meant, but thought it was ironic how things can take on different meanings for each person.  You are doing fantastic...CONGRATS!!  and GOOD LUCK!

Well by 30 days you should START to feel a little better.  But given that you are taking the suboxene it is hard to say.  But it does sound like you are only prolonging the process.  I know for me methadone was the hardest drug i've ever tried to kick, however i went cold turkey.  Either way you are SOO close to feeling better...don't give up....
Keep in mind that methadone has a slow metabolism and very high fat solubility, making it longer lasting than morphine-based drugs. Methadone has a typical elimination half-life of 15 to 60 hours with an average of i would say about 22. However, metabolism rates vary greatly between individuals, up to a factor of 100 ranging from as few as 4 hours to as many as 130 hours.  So everyone is different and while some people drop off at 90 mgs after being on it for 2 years, and suffer PHYSICAL withdrawls for 2 weeks, there are also those like myself, who were on it for 2 months at 30 mgs and suffered 2 months physical withdrawls and it took about a year before I was BACK to who I used to be. ...meaning, running, working out, laughing, and my body could FINALLY regulate it's own temperature ....i was finally normal...no cold sweats, or hot when it's 20 degrees and cold when it's 90...anyway, i'm rambling....but ...bottom line..you are almost there....if you can stop taking the suboxen you should be better rather quickly....

Congratulations Kova,   Great job for 30 days.  Yea, I know exactly what you mean about Sub.   I am on day 23 off Sub now and just now (I hope) starting to get my life back ---- The fog over my brain seems to be lifting and a little energy is returning ---  Still have the W/D's at odd times through the day - times where I cannot really function well.  But, I keep the faith, mostly b/c others on this site were kind enough when they got clear to reach back for the rest of us.  That gives me hope from day to day and I know that this stuff cannot hold us forever.   I will share one thing that seems to be helping a lot --- got a Rx from my doctor for Provigil -   It enhances dopamine receptors in the brain that are damaged by the extended opiate use.  Gives a non-caffeine boost that is great for about 4 hours.  Also sold on the internet but fairly expensive -- definitely worth it though.  Please hang in there --- we will get through this.  I appreciate you telling it like it is -- Sub is not the answer ---  only prolongs the agony of W/D.  When I first took it I thought I had found the 'answer' - -- but then I  tried to let it go - - it doesn't want to go --- it fights hard.  Well, all the best.

Congratulalation on 30-day without methadon, for all purposes your Bllod-plasma drug levela are registering 0% Iys the brain, with its remanufacturing of the neuro-transmitters,plus try some vigorous walking, that causes the brain to (produce ENDORPHANS) the natural narcotic and FEELGOOD chemical. When we take pills and receive that eurphoria, the FEELlife seems humdrum, but its stable your not manic or depressed your doing Wonderful!!! john
