coming off oxycontin

In January I made a major injury where the hopital had me on massive pain medication
I have been taking oxycontin 20mg twice a day for 5mths. I have been feeling addicted for awhile now. Getting anxious about my meds keeping them close to me when I run low etc. I am terrfifed as to the reality of the I am not on the oxys how bad will my pain be. I had 40mg 24hrs a go and have not had any since. I don't feel any excrutiating pain. I have not got any supply of oxys. I want to get off them as I feel the addiction creeping up and I cannot stand going to the toilet every 6 days and I have have trouble urinating now. I have sores over my legs. Does anyone have any advice on what to expect for withdrawals and what I can do to get through it.thanks

Hi there!  What you can expect is this, if you do cold turkey.......

Insomnia
Sweats and chills
Aches and cramps
Diarrhea and or vomiting
Low energy
Anxiety
Restlessness
Craving the drug

There are things that you can buy OTC to help some of the symptoms.  Check out the Thomas Recipe located on the health pages on this site.  Bottom or top of page here. It has very good info that helps a lot of the symptoms.  You're looking at 3-5 days of the symptoms, slowly getting better after about 72 hours.  You're already 24 hours into it, so I say go for it!  Just a few days and the physical stuff will be over!!

You can do it!!! : )
