Sometimes we get cravings if we're tired, hungry, lonley, bored. So,take a look at that and
go from there. Maybe if you just eat something...that has worked for me. Also,in the morning I got into the habit of taking all my vitamins right away. That seemed to get me out of pill mode.
Good luck!
Geez my head is in the clouds lol, Congrats on 14 days clean huge ,huge deal......
Hey gizzy, lookin forward to the game today?? LOL! Im a bears fan :)
I honestly thought I wouldn't feel good enough to enjoy this game today lol.
Anyway, to julie, honey, trust me I get the saaaaaame feeling, my fiance even has pills in the house becuz he got a tooth pulled, he only took a couple and now they are just sitting there. Yesterday I had a thought, "well i wonder how i would feel if i just took a half" and i honestly said to myself "f**k you" to myself for even thinking that, than i went on with my day and never thought of it again. Last night my mom presented me with a bracelet with a charm that says "a day to remember" and engraved on the back is the first day I quit, I look at it all the time, and just feel proud of myself! Maybe you should just get something that was given to you by a loved one and just look at it whenever you get the urge, maybe thats cheesy lol but it works for me :)
Good luck sweetie!
I found for me in the beginning that I had to surround myself with other ppl who were living life clean, I went to aa and na I kept them really close to me and it sure build a foundation to reach out when need be, I also started reprograming my brain like writing positive thougths on paper and reading them every morning, actually just before i came on the site I listened to louise hay ,morning meditations to clear my mind and start my day on a positive note,[
oh ya and I prayed and prayed and I was an atheist but I just did nt want to go back to where I came from ! I asked for the obsession to be lifted and gave thanks for the one day I had clean and I remember about day 5 it was noon(instead of every waking moment) before I thought about drugs ,right there I knew there was something keeping me clean that was a great day I hope you have one as well j34
Distractions distractions distractions!!! Clean the bathroom, load the dishwasher, do some laundry, clean out your bedroom dresser, closet, whatever! Or watch a movie, good TV show or pick up the phone and called a loved one (a sober loved one!).
Changing my focus to something else was something I got very good at - keep doing it the craving will pass (they say the average craving lasts 30 minutes so just enough time to get something done around the house).
And if all else fails, get in your car and drive. To nowhere. Listen to your favorite music and if need be, SCREAM your head off. Sounds crazy but it works. And you get to do this in complete privacy so no one knows. You'd be surprised how well scream therapy works.
Hang in there - every day is one more day away from the drugs. It will get better. :)
Congrats on 2 weeks clean. I hope the cravings have passed? Sometimes we just have to take it one minute at a time. Stay strong and this too shall pass.
Oh how I hate that. I am 6 months clean from Crack, and there are moments where I can feel the high just hearing a lighter be flicked. What I try to do is do or think about something else. The craving will pass. DO not give in, you are stronger than you think.
What is your DOC? I am addicted to opiates. This month I am going to have meds left if it is the last thing I do on this earth. I am going to give the bottle to my husband. Last time I found them he caught me, and oh ****. The marriage is already fragile and that move on my part did not help things. The doc and I have agreed that I need to keep on the percocets because my blood pressure is out of wack do to my pain. I know that sounds like an excuse, but until my car accident settles I have to play the game, or no money.
Do you do crafts? I knit, last week I made 3 hats, but it kept my mind and hands away from the pipe.
