naughty, you are one strong lady.  i tried the taper,  i could not do it.  so i went c/t.  thought i was gonna die...wished i would die.  but i am here today and feeling great.  kudos to anybody that can taper...alone or with help.  i did have a few xannex to help, but i still didnt get sleep for a week.

jade, i agree 40% is huge.  if you pm avis (the taper queen) around here the number of pills you have left and what you were taking she willmake a taper schedule for you.  she really knows her stuff.  she is probably in bed tonite she has been sick.  but she will get it to you in the morn.  the key to tapering she says is to make it slow.
good luck to you

Its true......you cannot spike your dose at all.  When I first tried it I allowed 1 or sometimes two in the evening and it did not work.  I've developed at least 10 different taper methods for myself and the one I described is the only one that worked.  The hardest part was the evening......wanted that itty bitty feeling in the evening, I see now it was all mental.  I was fortunate that I had the discipline to do it on my own.  Nobody to hold my pills, which in a way gave me more incentive in that, I could have that bottle there and say no. It was by no way easy, but try going a day or two without them and then do your taper and decide which is worse........we know the answer to that one......thats what kept me in check.   I know now  for me my withdrawals were more mental than physical........train the mind and the body will follow.........A lot easier said than done but doable.  If you mess up........don't get discouraged.  Keep trying, but I told myself that if I messed up even once......it was C/T.  I messed up a day before my birthday after a two month taper......which i don't recommend, because I see how hard it was and usless on my body.  Lost 40 lbs.  and I was a mess.  I see now that a month tops and i would have had the same result.  No real withdrawal at all to speak of.  Live and learn.

Tapering is a big bumber but I also did it so i could work...made a plan ...took off work and quit...I felt as if I tapered for months i would lose my focus and not quit...then i wanted to keep on using but had planned those days off work so felt like I had to do it then...and I did....naughty is right....spread your doses out throughout the day in small doses and do not spike (It is hard and I did spike...I am an addict so I cheated)...i had a piece of paper on my counter that said...morning..mid morning  etc and laid the pills out for the day...of course I do not have children at home!   I had to get my pills daily from a friend or I could not have done this...and I am known to all as "the strong one"...not so strong when it came to tapering...I was really glad when quit day came...I was so over it...I really made me realized how much those pills controlled me while I was tapering...and u guys I know I am rambling today but have had a bad day!  sorry

How are you taking them.  I would break mine into halves first and take every hour.  You might end up taking the same amount at first, but at the second week I broke into quarters and took every hour and after a few days found myself taking less and less just because every hour was a pain in the butt.  It naturally stretches itself out because unless you sit in front of the clock ......which you may at first.......its just not possible. you will eventually start to see that an hour and a half went by because you were busy doing something and your not getting high.  if you miss a dose...of course, don't make up for it.  It worked well for me.  Can't hurt to try.  The one pill every four hours was painful.  if you do the math 1/4 pill every hour equals one pill......worth a try.  Maybe? I hope that made sense.

Good luck,
Nauty...........

It's not in your head it is in your body. A 40% cut in meds is huge from your bodies point of view. I would suggest you taper about 10% of your dose each day or two till you get to a lower dose. You are not going to feel well as long as you are tapering. The only advantage you have is that your meds are not long acting or time release which makes things easier. Put each days pills in seperate containers and have your spouse or a freind hold them giving you only one days pills at a time. When you are ready quit and plan on feeling like **** for about 3-5 days perhaps more. Hang in there.
