I think when we all first get here we take more than we give.  Lots of people stay around because we couldn't be where we are without this place.

Good luck, keep posting.

Hey there you guys.....everyone on this forum had a first visit....a lot of us old goats stick around because we have advice and stories .... and it is a form of therapy and payback....some of us wouldnt be clean today if we weren't on this forum to be reminded of the problem by new people posting daily. Way too easy to get complacent - - and that leads to a fall. This is a process that leads to getting clean. And you get a lot of satisfaction from using your personal experiences to help another individual. There will be time for anyone that wants to for your turn to give advice and give back. Right now take all the knowledge you can absorb. There is a world of collective experience here. And best of luck to you all. Stick around and tell us your story.

Please don't beat yourselves up,    that is so common for people struggling with addiction,  your self esteme  and all that is so special about you is in question because of the drugs.  BOTH of you are reaching out and asking for help.......  you're not "clean",  oh sweethearts  don't think for one minute you are the only ones not "clean"  on this forum, that misconception is far from the truth!!      I have so much respect for both of you,  you're trying,  and as I said before  every small step is a huge affirmation and confirmation that you want your life back, free of addiction.  Yes it is a hard struggle,  but it is a fight for your life,  and you deserve no less than health and happiness.

Please stay,  please post,  and please feel free to share the  hard as well as the hard times!!     My thoughts are with both of you,   be so very proud of your actions to seek support.  I am.

Hi Jonny,

I am brand new here (like 15 minutes new) and I know exactly what you mean about feeling like you are taking without giving.  I am not clean but am hoping that somehow I can get there through this forum.  But I feel really bad for even being on here if I'm not clean because look at all the hard work everyone else is doing to stay clean and I'm not even really trying.  I mean, I have tried, and failed, and I want to try (see my post - I want to quit but I don't want to quit) but I feel selfish for even asking everyone to try to make me want to quit or motivate me.  I am not trying to say that you are anywhere near the same as me, you are actually going to a doctor and taking positive steps toward quitting.  I just wanted to respond because... I don't know.  Nevermind, but I'm glad that you are on this forum.

Thanks,
Kaeden

You don't think you are giving back to this forum?   Let me tell you sweetie, you are showing so many people  that yes it is so very hard,  but you are trying so hard,  and sharing that you haven't given up yet.    I wish there was someway I could express what an inspiration you are to people struggling,  yet  reading what you have shared.   Please take pride in yourself for the fact that you haven't given up,   it is damn hard,  but Jonny you still havent used.  Just remember every minute you stay focused and away from that drug, so very   destruction to you and your life,  is one more step to your health and happiness,  and to a life you truly deserve.        Your fight to be sober,  is all about you,  now is the time to be selfish and focus 100% on your recovery.

Even tho you don't realize it, you are giving back, by sharing.    Stay strong sweetie  and take all the support you can from everyone.  I believe in you  and your desire to stop the insanity of drug addiction.

Agree-
Don't give up on yourself, we won't ever give up on you.  If you're going to wait until next week and the doc appt, then great.  We're still here to support you (or just listen) as you get ready for that appt and the day after, and the day after that.

And don't get down on yourself.  If it were easy, do you think there'd be all this stuff about addiction?  Or this great site full of folks who know exactly how you are feeling?

Even though you are going to stop until you see the addiction specialist is not a reason to leave and you have not wasted anybody's time.. We are all in different stages in our recovery some have not even begun to get off there doc yet.. When you see the specialist he will be able to help you with med to detox and you still have us..... So don't leave stick around and give encouragement and your view of things as you know it's a hugh help for those seeking support :))  Don't be discouraged it has taken many of us more then a couple of try's to get clean.. Be kind to yourself and I hope to see you around.. lesa

Hi Jonny,

You didn't waste our time and we were happy to give you support. It might be a good idea to stick around and get additional support here as well. You're trying tostop a drug that is very strong and very difficult to stop so don't be hard on yourself.

good luck, you're doing the right thing.
