Maybe my wording wasent proper  or the point i was trying to come acrost .    I agree with your post compleetly.   I myself have never been on methadone for a treatment purpose.   alot of my coment was actualy partial do a differnt post but anyhow advice is advice   its all how you take it . some take it negativly some take it posativle.  in the end its all up to you the user to decide how to take that information  as helpfull or hurtfull.

Im no Dr . nor a professional.  I only speak my thoughts and they arent allways right .  opinions are simply that.

I just HAVE to say something about this- methadone is not a resolution. You think the withdrawals you're going thru are bad. Even if you taper off methadone it takes months of withdrawals until you feel anything remotely like a normal person. You go 2-3 months with barely any sleep. Methadone stores in your bones, in your fat cells, and it WILL take way more than a couple weeks til you start to feel like you again. I've done both routes, so I promise I'm only speaking from experience. The ONLY good thing I found with methadone was you weren't risking yourself the chance of using a dirty needle. If you're not an IV user, than I begg you to look at the big picture. This is not going to be easy. You are not going to get out of this without any pain. If it was that easy than most junkies would quit. I know how scarey the thought of being that sick is. I lived it. You just have to know that it's a momentary thing. Please do your research on methadone. It's not a complete opiate blocker. I was taking my daily dose, and still using... the only thing it did was make me have to use double the amount I originally was using when I went into the clinic to get put on methadone. There's nothing normal about going to a clinic everyday, waiting in crazy long lines to get a dose. There's nothing normal about any of it. I am totally not cured. I just moved back to the place where it all went down for me. I WILL NEVER be recovered. I'm recovering from a disease that has no cure. I don't think I'm special. I think I'm lucky. I think about using sometimes, then I think about who I was when I was using. I think about the day my son broke down in tears, because he just couldn't tell another lie for his mother. Florida941- I believe you're speaking of people who are working a program. I use to say things like you are saying. Those people you speak of are the one's who are going to save another. I don't know about you, but if someone has 20 years clean from a drug as powerful as heroin/oc's- then I want to know how they did it. Hope you both find the peace you're looking for. I'm not trying to sound judgemental, I just feel so strongly about this. Hang in there!

PS , if i ofended you in any way im terribly sorry i am only voicing my opinion and thoughts on your situation that i know not alot about.   Some people do make acusations and falce statements that arent needed but thoes are the self rightious people who think because they are so far into recovery that they are CURED or Special.   Sorry but no addict is ever cured , once an addict allways an addict  weather u use/abuse or not. Dependancy/Addiction is a epidemic / illness that cant be cured. can only be moderated controlled and dealt with on a responcible level. Treatment is a on going process.    No one wakes up and is cured , having no thought or desire to use again.  If they say they are, then that are blowing smoke up yer bum.

Best of luck with your situation. -Ryan

Well you re right ,  if u abuse the methadone you will become heavily adicted.  specialy if you are dealing with actual pain other than withdrawl symptoms.  proper dosage and tapering down at a moderate level can end in good results.

My uncle was a Nam Vett. metal plate in his back , head and multiple surgerys on his back and what not.  he was on oxy/morphine and other hard PKs for a long time.  He also got sick of the dependancy and the side affects of the narcotics. so he switched to methadone to try n get off.   Unfortunatly when he did methadone wasent as widley known and used and he was miss dosed  after some time of miss use  he passed in his sleep due to his lower GI bleeding out in his sleep. (given he wasent in the best of health) God rest his soul he was a gr8 man who only wanted the best for himself and his family. Abuse and over dosage of ANY perscription drug can be life threataning.

Im not trying to scare you away from methadone. just make shure your responcable about your dosage if you go that rout.

Anything to lessen your dosage and consumption of narcotics for pain is a better step than staying where your at and alot safer for your well being.  Alot of people have gr8 sucess with methadone and some can never get off of it.  Will power is the key to recovery.

PS im not a Dr.   LOL   so pls dont quote any info i have given  its just my opinion and insight on the situation.

also , if your taking 80 MG twice a day , why not see if your Dr can cut you down to 40 mg twice a day. do that for  a week or so , then cut to 20 mg  twice a day , then to 10  then to hopefully nothing.  dont get me wrong the first few days of your tapering down might not be so eazy but its worth it.

Best of luck ,  My prayers are with you.  -Ryan

10 days without any oxys  or anythig to substitute for the oxy ? 1 relapse  dosent mean its all over.  u now know what your up against now and that u can make it 10 days. If you cant cold turkey quit why not try to slowly ween yourself down to where u are taking 1/2 or 1/4 of your normal dose.  Take just enough to keep u from being sick.

IMO if u can go 10 days with out using , there should be no reason to take a full 80mg or 2 80's a day to deal with your pain/withdrawl.   i asume if u were 10 days no meds and u relapsed today and took a full dose it hit you alot harder than it would of if u dident go 10 days without.      I use to do 4 80's a day  and i got to the point where  i had to do that much just to feel normal not even get high.   i know that if i did 1 80 today i would fall out of my chair and pass out on the floor. when 2 weeks ago 1 80 wouldent even affect me.

Have you thought about Methadone ? its mainly used for people who have REAL pain issues.  Unlike Suboxone  , Methadone is a "Full opioid agonist"  once you figure out your needed dose (minimum dose to only maintain and function recomended) it has alot less of a euphoria affect as oxys do.  Suboxone is a "Partial opioid agonist" with no pain releif. If you are dealing with natural pain suboxone wont help u but Methadone might be something u want to talk to your Dr about...

either way  you went 10 days no dose.  u can do it again.  even if it takes u a few atempts keep it up  u will overcome the dependancy if you want to

Best of luck - Ryan

btw - if you are a mom, you really DO have to do something.

you owe it to your kids.  they deserve you to be present.

i know its hard, trust me - i know.  but it's doable, so do it.  for your kids....

you aren't dying... but you need to stop the pills.

if you are serious about quitting, please consider outside support.  to STAY off.  it sounds like you need it.

and that's not a judgement - most of us can't do it alone.  or even with just the board as support.

if you hate these pills, truly hate these pills - do something different.  put your pride, fear, etcetera aside and truly get the help and support you need to kick this habit.

you don't have to feel this way.  nor do you have to go through this.

but it's really up to you to do something. as it is all of us...

DO SOMETHING.

with luv,
mj
