My thoughts and prayers are with you.  I was so close to my grandparents - my grandmother is still with us but is 98 and not well at all.  I sang at my mom's funeral.  She always said she wanted that.  Growing Up I used to play piano and sing hymns and she would join in - she had a beautiful voice.  I sang "He Restoreth My Soul" and "Then Came the Morning".  I am sure you can hear these online - both are beautiful and so meaningful.  I will be thinking of you.  Take care and God bless.

I had never heard that one and I LOVE it. It is also fitting. Thank you so much. Yes, they are sad, but that is what I am looking for. Although I can't stop crying, I love them both.

i am so sorry. i know that grief well. it seems hard to imagine life without that one person but by numbing youself you will not see the beauty of what is around you and you will not be able to be the person that she loved and wants to see do well in her life. don't ever forget what she taught you to appreciate or accomplish or the simple task of being true to yourself. live your life for her. that will make you feel better. it did and does me.

I am sorry for your loss, and just wanted to tell that You are in my prayers. Remember the love, the security, and the laughter that she gave you, and the warm fuzzy feeling that she made you feel safe and secure.  Tons better than any pill could do.  I know you are hurting, and I wish I could make it go away. The love that you have for her will always be there no matter what.

Honey,
I really do know how you feel. I lost my grandmother at 65 years old in 2005. At that time, I was still VERY active in addiction. She died unexpectly and I DID NUMB with pills. It just felt better to cover up than to deal with it. My addiction fell so out of control, I used so, so much. I experienced black outs for the first time. Exactly one year to the day later, I then lost my grandfather.

Death is hard. It is even harder when we as addicts, are use to dealing with any type of pain by numbing or self-medicating. I have been clean almost 18 months and now I try to use new behaviors to deal with lifes "blows".

Not to talk about myself, but for the 1st time since I got clean, I am dealing with a surgery and possible exposure to narcotics and I am scared to death.

By you talking about it, you have already done something different rather than numbing.

Remember your grandmother for who she was. She would not want you to use over it. Also remember, using only makes any given bad situation much, much worse.

It's okay to cry, yell, scream, whatever you have to do to let out your emotions and not use over this unfortunate situation.

Best of love. I will have you in my prayers.
