**everyone please read ASAP**

Hi friends. Well today is day five of sobriety. W/Ds seem to be over. Today started as any other normal day except instead of reaching for a pain pill this morning, I took a multi-vitamin. I found out these past few days that taking that vitamin every morning helps with the mental battle. After I take it I don't feel the intense urge to run for a pain pill. Why I don't know but it helps. I was able to go to school today. Surprisingly, I don't have too much homework to make up. Today, it felt like the entire school asked me if I had won the lottery. They said that I looked like I was the happiest they had ever seen me. They said if I was a girl they would ask if I was pregnant, because I was glowing and grinning from ear to ear. My government teacher said he had never seen anyone so excited and happy to take a test. After I got out of school at 11:00am, I went to work. Work was great, not one single thing went wrong. In fact I got a $0.87 raise on the hour. But when I got home everything started to go downhill. My Dad was home from work early. A little background on my Dad:  he is a machinist, he has worked out in the weather all his life, and he is the type of guy that if he were to break his arm he would just duct tape it and go back to work. Also, he would normally have to be unconscious before I could get him to the doctor. Well, when I walked in from work my Dad asked me to take him to the hospital because his chest felt real tight, he couldn't hardly breath, he was dizzy, and sharp pains were shooting down his arm. So, I called 911 and gave him some aspirin. My Mom is out of town this week for work and she is about 16 hours away from home and cant leave. After many many tests they determined that he had a severe heart attack. And, he needed immediate open heart surgery. They told me that the surgery will last about 6-7 hours. So, Dad is in surgery right now, Mom is 16 hours away, and all my other family lives in different states. I was here by myself for a while, but I called my best friend that I have known all my life, who has never taken any illegal drugs in his life, and he dropped everything and rushed to the hospital to stay with me. I am so glad that he is here because just a few min. ago the nurse came out and said there was a complication so the surgery is going to last longer than expected. And to make things worse she wouldn't even tell me what the complication was. It's good that my buddy is here with me because I'm so nervous and worried that it would be extremely hard to turn down any pills that might be offered to me. So, I'm asking all of you to please, please pray for my Dad. I am really worried about him.Because he smokes cigarettes, drinks alcohol, and is 59 years old. Please pray for him. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. God bless.

Oh Cody!  You are an incredible young man!  I know what you mean about your dad and the duct tape - my dad was the same way, and so was my mom for that matter.  You've had so much thrown at you in your young life, but you've shown remarkable grace and strength of character in the face of disaster.  Be proud of yourself just as I know your parents and everyone reading this thread is proud of you!  Sending many prayers your way and to your family.  Thank your friend from all of us for being there for you too.  :-)

Damn man life has a way of throwing us all some crazy ****. I'm just glad you had a homeboy you could call for a little support. A good(proven) friend is a true blessing, and it looks like you've got one. The mind is a very powerful weapon, and it will make you want to grab that pill just to feel better, knowing you can start over another day. Stay strong for your pops, and tell them pills to kiss your *** this time. Yeah even if the situation goes sideways for you, your dad would be proud of you! Its sounds like the man is a tough SOB, and YOU are is boy. You got this!!
Peace.

Cody--I just read your post and I am so sorry to hear about your dad. I have been following your story since your first post. You came in to this forum a scared kid and now I am here to say that you are a strong young man. Its true waht others have told you God has a plan for you and that is why you got clean when you did. I will pray that your father comes through the surgery ok and he improves everyday. As I said you are a strong young man and you will make it, so don't let any temptations get to you. It is also great that you have a freind you can confide in as it makes all the difference in the world.

Hey cody. I was so sad to read this. You were doing so well, and now we can really say "everything happens for a reason" you got yourself together just in time. And I believe god had a hand in that. You're at day 5 right now, for a lot of people that's a terrible day, as far as wds. And here you are, doing great in that respect, and being strong at the hospital as well. You really are an amazing person cody. Don't go backwards because of this . Your father will need you, and YOU need this. I will pray that your father pull through this. He sounds like a strong man as well. And I will pray for your strength. We are all here cody, and I hope from the bottom of my heart that you will keep posting when you can. You need some support. And  by the way, just because they said something about a complication dont get too worked up about it. it could of meant  a # of things, but im sure he is in good hands. ill be thinking of you...... sending you a giant hug! Please take care.....

This is what Tom said and he is so right that please, remember his words because they are 100 % true.

" The fact that you were clean was a big reason why you were able to deal with this very stressful sitaution in such a psitive and effective manner. Gog had you in a position where you were able to be where you had to be and in a clean state where you could make all of the right moves. "

Hi Cody,

Yes you sure did a great job dealing with your father's situation. I am praying or both of you. The fact that you were cleal was a big reason why you were able to deal with this very stressful sitaution in such a psitive and effective manner. Gog had you in a position where you were able to be where you had to be and in a clean state where you could make all of the right moves.

It sounds like you have a great friend. Perhaps after your fathre's sitautuon improves that you can confide in your friend and he can help you stay clean.

God Bless You,
Tom

Hi Cody,

Awesome job helping your dad.  You are there for him when he needs you.  Although this situation is tough one of the benefits of being clean is that we are available to step up and help out when needed.  Good job calling a friend to help support you during all this.  You are doing the right things.  Do your best to have faith and deal with this as it unfolds.  My prayers are with you, your father and your family.  God Bless!!
