It can be done.

No, I haven't done it yet, but I am starting my gear to change my life forever. No more seeking, feeling sick, looking for a high that just isn't the same anymore. This is how I see it: I am me. I am the person who wants to flush my pills and vow never to abuse them again. Then, there's the monster, that addictice voice that says " feed me" "feed me," " you can't quit." I don't have a disease. I'm not sick. I am addicted to a drug & it is curable by complete abstainance. The monster can pound in my head all it wants to, but only I can feed him. I will stave him & he will die. End of story.

Thank you all. I know what you mean about most of it being mental. I read a book called "rational recovery," and it really gave me the push to do this. I have it rough because my doctors started this medication with me while I was pregnant with my twins. Well, they are now 9 months old and I am very addicted to this stuff. 5-6 pecocets a day just makes me mad, and that is my current dosage. I would be "happier" with maybe 2 or three more. I've just had enough of living my life around this pill. I didn't realize I was taking them after the babies not only for pain, but because they helped me take care of them better. They took away the stress, but now they are just adding to it. I have two pills to last me through today, two tomorrow, and then a bottle of 14. I am terrible at tapering, so I am considering just going cold-turkey. I did it before and got to day 4, and I felt good!! Then, a doctor called in a script of vidodin for my back issues(which I didnt ask for, but it was after a MRI) and I made a bad choice by picking them up. So, here I am again, just trying to decide if I'd rather draw the suffering out by tapering or just letting go. Either way... I soon will be clean, and I will never put another pain pill in my mouth unless I went under the knife or something. Thank you all for your support. Here's the website I ran across on rational recovery http://www.rational.org/index.php?id=36 I went and got the book and it has helped me more than anything.
