hello jumpr3, welcome. I just wanted to let you know that you are doing awesome.. I just detoxed form 12-15 norcos a day 10 days ago today and i have to say my 5th day did it for me. Thats when i really started seeing a change.. But giving you are on such a low dose of them i think you will do just fine.. But i have to say i am not a doctor, Oh and i did cold turkey off of them . I too did the thomas recipe and it did help a little .. What did helped me the most was the gabapentin helps tremedously with w/d's but that is my own experience.. I just wanted to come on here and tell you how wonder you are doing.. And that it takes alot of strength to do what you are doing.. and in a week you'll be right as rain.. keep in touch my friend and let us know how you are doing...

thanx alot KK, and Bama and everybody else, i really appreciate it... it has been 24 hours now, im glad i made it through that much... ok as for melantonin - how much should i take ?? whats mentioned on the btl itself ?? and that helps with the sleep right ?? my GF just picked me up some melentonin, a once a day MV, whey protien, i got Coconut water, i havent got the l therisine yet as i have to go to GNC tomorrow to get it
I am not a doctor, but I think you will get through this just fine. However, I don't know all of your medical conditions that could be affected by quitting cold turkey (such as high blood pressure? Heart problems?). If you don't have any of that, I'm sure u will b fine. As for "how long will u feel like this," well, that's hard to tell. Everyone is different. I was through with all the physical wd symptoms by day 3 (that's when most people say its the worst). On day 3 my mental wd's kicked in tho...like anxiety & being emotional. Just make sure you keep eating healthy foods. I did a google search today, "foods that make you happy." And that's what I've been eating...foods that are scientifically proven to help raise endorphine & seratonin levels, & just help your general mood. Eat, take vitamins, be active when u can & it will be over with b4 u know it.
are the best.... ill admit, ive thought about taking a piece of a 10 but havent, infact i had to go to my grandfathers today and i took one with me to be safe and i didnt touch it.... i keep going hour by hour.... saying ok, dont take it this hour, ok next hour........ how bad will i feel in the morning ?? thats what i want to know to be honest. See ive always been afraid of getting over my head so i have NEVER taken an entire pill at one time, it didnt matter if it was a 5 or 7.5 or a 10. i do know i never got over 3 a day, i know thats not alot compared to others, but again ive always been afraid of being a statistic you know *knock on wood*
when are you at your worse on WDs, and how dangerous is quittign cold turkey, i think i found a cpl of the sites that are owned by rehab centers and they have thier warnings you know about seizures and death and it worries me some .......... if its like what i have now with maybe a little more pain i think i can kick this hopefully by wednesday that would be awesome (WDs that is)

I have faith that you're not gonna give in to a pill! You've almost made it a full day! Days 1 & 2 were the worst for me...I started feeling better by day 3. Try & make it another 24 hours...after that it will be cake cuz you won't wanna give in & have to start all over again (at least that's how it was for me.) I never had a single craving for a pill during my detox...I even left one on my nightstand so it could stare at me the whole time. I wanted to prove to myself that I was mentally strong enough to conquer my addiction...and I did...& it feels amazing. I'm day 5 sober!
What vitamins should I get, specifically... Like a basic all in one multi or a certain brand. Or should I get individual ones like B6,12, magnesium, Vitamin C and as far as a melatonin is the Valerian root one ?? And what is the L-thisorine ?? What does it do ?? I am going to be completely hydrated for sure between the h2o and a ton of coconut water which has like 350-450mg of potassium as well as a ton of electrolytes. My girlfriend is going to pick the stuff up for me in like an hour. I'm like 22+hrs since my last time taking hyrdros and I've been my preparing myself for the worse and *knock on wood* I'm doing "ok". I got the anxiety, I get hot or cold real quick and what feels like the start of a headache coming on. I have eaten and am drinking a ton of fluids and I'm expecting tomorrow and Sunday to be the real rough days and prolly Monday as real bad then hopefully I can see the light at the end of the tunnel by then. I jkust hope and pray that this feeling in my ear goes away sooooooon. Its weird its like it feels clogged and muffled, but I don't know, there's nothing in it but I can't hear as good out of it as I could a week ago

I hear your anxiety about having the pills and I can't help but read into your username (LOL) We can't give taper advice on here and it is a personal choice....You are on a fairly low dose and if you flush the pills and surrender to the process of detox you should be through the worst in 3-5 days physically...Mentally and emotionally everyone is different. I am the same age as you and was on a high dose of various opiates for almost 5 years for chronic illness and pain...I, too had hormone issues that caused other awful symptoms while on the meds-it was one of the main reasons I went C/T 46 days ago...
The wise folks above gave you good advice re: Thomas Recipe (I'd do it without the benzo if you can-) and vitamins and supplements....I would add hot baths with epsom salts for achy muscles and RLS, whey protein shakes (15 bucks for 2lb at Walmart) blend with milk (I use almond) and a banana twice a day. It has all the amino acids in it to heal your body/brain and will help with your hormone levels. B Vitamins (6, 12) and Vitamin C Ascorbate are key...especially with your alopecia...You need to rebuild. Magnesium and potassium are also very important. Melatonin for sleep...Valerian root (nature's valium) get these at pharmacy or health food store.
You may have rebound pain at first-heat is your best friend....If you have access to a sauna (infrared) it helps speed the detox process and feels awesome...I do it every day.
You can reclaim your life and are taking the steps to do so...Be proud of that. Let us know what you need....Lu
Thanx for all the kind words, it really means a lot to me. I am about 16 hours since my last dose. I am doing ok, I still haven't fully decided what I am going to with tapering or CT. The worse feeling right now is the anxiety of knowing I have some available but not taking it. I am naturally extremely hyper and can't sit still, so that anxious feeling is magnified right now. I'm thinking if I taper I would try maybe 1 or 1.5 10/325 for a few days and taper down, but I want to see how long I can go w/o taking one. The hair loss and now the loss of hearing in my right ear is what did it for me. I went to a dermartologist for the hair issue and get steroid shots in the scalp once a month plus use a topical and cream based steroid and rogaine daily, and that has seemed to start regenerating my hair.
I read about the Thomas recipe last nite and will get some thode things listed. I do drink a lot of energy drinksz with the B vitamins, will that help ?? I will get the Multis with magnessium and magnessea too. I do try to drink Coconut water as it is supposed to hydrate better than gatorade and has a ton of potassium in it as well.

Hi, I'm on day 5 sober from taking 8-10 Norco plus 40-80 mg of oxycontin each day. I quit cold turkey & I was feeling better by day 3. The only side effect of withdrawals I have left is insomnia. I made myself eat at least 2 meals a day during my entire detox....even tho I didn't have an appetite. I've also been taking a multivitamin & omega 3 to help with my endorphines. I believe making myself eat had the biggest effect as to making me feel better faster.

My background. I am a knee replacement survivor. So i get knee pain. I cracked my knee cap falling off a ladder 10-12 feet in the air. I have lots of problems with my knees and wrists and back. One time i was gobbling loratabs like pez . I took 10-20 loratabs a day. And my hearing suffered too. And my hair fell out. Its thinner now. Hmmm. I never put the hair thing together. Thanks for the info. But my hearing has returned. I graduated to oxycontin over my eight year run of opiates. So i encourage you to stop while your ahead.
Opiates are a funny drug. They carry so many side effects. Too many to list. What's your plan to.come.off? Are ya gonna taper or just jump? Im extending hand to help.you....your new.friend and fellow addict bama
Your post reminds me of a few years ago when I first began to realize that I had a serious addiction to opiates and took my first swipe at recovery. I remember reading several comments about it will only get worse....your habit is that big right now.....the best thing to do is stop now, etc. For one reason or another, I managed to still take the harder path and found myself further down the road.
I think it is a great thing that you are planning social events and looking toward enjoying life, it really does involve the need/desire for getting your life back and being able to enjoy life naturally. Here is wishing you strength and mercy on your journey.
Welcome to the forum! For what it is worth, the anticipation of quitting was far worse than doing it. With the low dose you are taking , you will kill this. I took 6 hydors a day and weened down a bit first. I was thinking in 3 days all would be normal. It was not that way for me. Start now and in a good week to 10 days you will feel like your old self. Get some ammonium for any bathroom issues, lots of gatoraide or watered down orange juice for hydration. You should be so proud that your wanting off now, this problem will only get worse in time. Hello and welcome....I also am coming off a hydro addiction but have chosen to taper off for it is healthier for your body....I have had the opposite effect and started loosing my hair when I went CT off hydro....it severly puts stress on my body to detox and that is what happen to me.....
There are several things you can pick up tho help with the withdrawls for either choice you make there is smething on here called the thomas recipe which list things like l~thisorine, meletonin a good multi vitamin and a few other I can't remember right now...sorry it is 2 am and haven't been getting much sleep......
I have decided to go herbal to help me out when I start feeling the withdraws more.....dont want to take more drugs after working so hard to get off one
usually when people go cold turkey they get through the worst of the withdrawals in 3-7 days but it varies for everyone, you should drinks lots of fluids like water and gatorade and start taking a multivitamin, there are a lot of great people on here and they will be able to offer you more helpful advice
