going to talk to doctor on monday

ok well i dont know if all of you know my storey but i have been abusing oxycontin for the last year. i get them from my husband who has a legitimate script for 80mg oxys. i am taking anywhere from 100-120mg a day. i have been trying to taper for the last 5 months and have only gotten down to 60-80 a day. i cant do this on my own so im going to tell my o=doctor what is going on and see if he can help me. i cant do this any longer it is making me sick and depressed. any advice on what i can ask him for? or should i ask to get on suboxene?

yesh i tried cold turkey once and i only made it 1 day, so i dont think i can do it that way. the only thing im worried about now is my husband is still taking the pills and he really doesnt want me to go on the suboxene for some reason. im worried if i know they ar ein the house and he is snorting them all the time that i will go right back to using. i cant tell my husband im going to get suboxene or he will flip out. but i have to do this i will tell him once i get it and if he flips out whatever i have to worry about myself at this point

I tried to taper many times and I really never felt it was getting me anywhere. I did ct and with the help of valium I was able to stop.

As far as the suboxene goes I have heard good and bad things about it. I think maybe more good than bad and some people swear by I think your on the right track.

I'm a firm believer in never honest with your Dr. I know it can be hard but I think they have probably heard it all.

You are not a baby...look around you....we're all addicts here sweetheart.  You do what you have to to make your life managable...and yours isn't right now, BUT you recognize it!  AND you should give yourself some major credit right now-you just took a bug step!  Making an appointment is huge!  I know you'll be nervous, it's kinda embarrassing and you'll have to swallow some pride, but so many of us have done it!  Me included!  It'll be ok, it'll be better than ok as soon as you kick this habit! :)

Don't beat yourself up about not being able to do it on your own. That is why so many have quit c/t. Taper is a tough way to go. Good luck on this route. Just use it to get clean. It too is an addictive drug.

I have a problem with perk's myself..Have had 2 surgries in the last 2 yrs. For about two yrs or more I've been taking 7 mg about 15 or more aday..I tried cold turkey but had a sezuire BUT i have had them in the past so that dosn't mean anyone else would get one but my doctor is working with me and tapering the dose and the way i take it. You still go thur w/d's specially like in my case doctor don't actually know the truth on how many i was really taking, but the w/d's are for me not near what the people here  have been thur. that are strong enouph to quit cold turkey! There are some very special people on this site and will help you thur this, they are alway's there for u. You have taken the first step, keep posting and good luck,....and welcome.

I don't think all doctors handle suboxene...but I checked out their website and entered the zipcode and it showed all doctors who handle it in the area.  I think this is a great FIRST step honey.  Nope, I don't have advice on what to ask him for...he's the one to ask, and if he doesn't have answers, you ask for a referral to someone who will have answers.  Check your insurance to see if your insurance covers chemical dependency....mine doesn't but a counselor has still been advising me on every step I'm taking...but I quit cold turkey so it's a little different here....  I think, from what I've heard here that it takes a while to get in with the suboxone so in my opinion, I think you should go to the site, find a doctor in your area who handles it, make an appointment there ALSO, in the meantime....just to get it scheduled, because I know you want this handled ASAP.  you can always cancel if your doctor has another plan in mind! Good luck honey-you can do it! :)
