Your getting through the roughest part.By now, if you have stayed off any opiate, you should be feeling ALOT better today. Congrats on the making it trhough the struggle.  Its the hardest thing to do, especialy on the dose of oxy you were at. I had to get away from that ****, it friggen ruined me.
The anti depresents can take 30-45 days to kick in sometimes. Its not an overnight type medicine.
keep up the good fight and post when you you need help

I remember when I detoxed off of 120 mg of hydro cold turkey I didn't sleep for almost 2 weeks. The only thing that helped me was time.I know how much it *****,but other than time nothing worked.I tried everything known to man and all it did was make it worse.Everybody is different so what works for one does not always work for others. It is your body healing which is a great sign even though you don't feel so great.I did the weed and tried drinking too, they didn't make it worse for me but they didn't help any either so why waste more money.I remember the first week I couldn't sleep because my body hurt with back pain and restless arms and legs. Then the 2ND week the body pain went away some but my mind raced for a week and that kept me up.I know how that can suck the life out of you but you are almost done.Don't give up now.Treat yourself extra good right now.Eat well, exercise, rent some funny movies take a ton of hot showers and baths use the heating pad and wait it out.Now that you are almost done with the w/D's what do you have planned for your recovery?Getting clean is not easy but staying clean is much much harder.I wish you the best of luck and hope you get a good nights sleep soon.

day six better day. i am starting to get some energy .did the treadmill for a little while. no beer or weed dont want it. in the begining when i started this getting clean i had no idea it was going to be this hard really .look at me now 2am and on the computer.but i am feeling like a huge rock is being lifted of my shoulders i am determened to get back to normal .for the ones who really needed the oxy and vics great im glad it helps .but for the ones who didnt realize just cause your doctor perscribed them and they worked for the pain that one day you would want off them how hard it would be.its still going to be a little longer then i thought to get thrue the wds .but it makes me happy .when i was running out of them or they didnt do much and i needed more what an *** i was. people didnt know what the problem was except my girlfriend they just knew to stay away. im not that kind of person and it made me want to change .i want to depend on me not the drug well thanks again for letting me vent and good luck to all

I also thought a beer or weed would help settle the nerve....it didnt. It makes them worse and harder to get through. Usually you would smoke weed or drink to make yo feel good, but in this case, it doesnt at all. Gotta stay focused on gettin off the pain killers. Once your are through that, you deserve to have a drink and enjoy it.

Hey Pete, It sounds like your doing all the rite things, please don`t do the weed/drinking thing. Your getting past the worst of it. I also now like the big caffine drinks in the am and afternoon it gives ME a little boost when I need it.

Hi Pete.. I'm really sorry to hear you are having such a bad time with sleep.. I do not mean to sound harsh.. but the pieces of your doc you are taking is just prolonging the inevitable.. and making the wd process last longer..Sleep is a problem for most that go through wd.. I know you lost your insurance.. so you are with otc meds.. You got a lot of good advice on this.. rls keeps us awake Hylands restful leg is good for this.. Benadryl is a good safe alternative but not to be used for a long period.. as is melatonin.. it comes in 3mg and 5 mg.. also Valerian Root for anxiety and combined with the melatonin it helps as does teas.. what it boils down to you need to get in the mind set that you are going to have a few sleepless nights.. and the sleep takes a while to even out.. Acceptance of this will go a long way in helping you to manage this.. the sooner you stop the crumbs the sooner you can get on with your life.. I do not recommend drinking at all as it makes it worse and you would be opening up a can of worms in my honest opinion..As for the weed.. to each their own..I mean this with all due respect.. lesa

I would  be curios to know how long it takes before the pain is finally over. Is it 6 days? 9 days? Without sleep our body produces more anxiety it seems and doesnt allow for us to heal from the withdrawl and get some type of break. Im trying a detox to get thru that part and that  is why im realy curios to know what day it is when you feel better, Vitamin world,GNC have Melatonin pills, I took 1 of those the other nite and fell asleep,Im on day 6 today.Eating oxys for a couple yrs ...Wish you well. ALso i tried the beer thing, before ,made me sicker

I never understood why it is always at night either...I remember during one of my detox's., i did try to have a couple beers, but it made me feel 100 percent worst....This last time, I actually put a trash bag around my pillow and sleep in a tub of hot water...and the times that i couldn't sleep, I just got up, because fighting it didn't help...then i could take a small nap during the day...Please don't let this make you start back up, Pete you will have to do this all again..Try to get something from your doctor...Do you have to go to work soon???

Hey Pete....we've all been there :-) and understand it sux with no sleep.  Sleep will come in spurts and eventually even out.  I used Tylenol PM, hot showers and when I couldn't sleep, I just got through it.  I used to love the expresso shots from Starbucks in the AM though...gave me enough energy to get through the day.  Your body is changing now and lack of sleep is one of the indicators that your body is repairing itself; take comfort in that.

You'll be fine...keep going man...

Hang in there Pete, you are through 5 days and I am sure it will start getting better very soon. Day 5 is a bad one for many here. I would not suggest smoking weed or drinking, so many of us have switched addictions to find out they come with their own set of problems. There are different sleep aids out there if sleep is that hard to come by, tylenol pm, melatonin etc, see if they help any. Keep fighting and soon you will feel like a new man, it takes a bit of time to recover, but your doing great. Good luck!

... and if this is new, due to w/d's from the Oxy, just be patient.... it DOES pass.  if you have no addiction prob's with benzo's, they are good for sleep, when going thru w/d's....

hey friend... if sleeping has been a long term problem, i personally think it's ok to see a doctor to get somethign for sleeping... it will keep you off the oxy (if you don't feel the "urge" for it) and also, it is also a very chronic problem for some people. it is for me (sleep.)

there's no shame in taking something to help you sleep.  people take med's for diabetes, but for some reason, people frown on taking sleeping pills for chronic insomnia... silly.  i had a neurologist tell me that (i finally ended up at one, for chronic sleep prob's) and he was right.  sleep is NECCESARY, and sometimes there's a biological prob..

there are cheap(er) med clinics out there with good doctors you can see for this problem.  if i read your post correctly, that's what i'd suggest.  and there is also a formula of homeopathic med's at Whole Foods called "deep Sleep" - liquid drops that i also found very helpful... as well, Tylenol PM helps too... (and if your mind is racing, try journaling.. writing down your thoughts before going to bed, to get whatever may be keeping your mind racing off/out of you mind.. that helps too.. for me, anyway.)

there is no shame in needing something to help you sleep, if it is a chronic problem.. if it's your thoughts, try writing them down b4 bed... and deep breathing...

i wish you the best of luck...

:)

Hang in there dude, you can do it. My nights were hell too, the worst time. Try taking benadril... seemed like the best alternative w/o hurting your w/d process.... Its a terrible thing, but just face it head on, and you can do it. It seems like it lasts an eternity, but you can make it.

The docs tried to give me anti depressants to help....F that, they make my body feel worse.

Hot showers work wonders, try taking one , or a bath, then a benadril or 2 and try to find a comfortable spot to lay. I use a fan to block out any noise that would wake me up.
Make sure you have a stress-free environment to sleep it. nothing worse than finally drifting off and getting woke up by a family member or something.....terrible.

Keep your head up and you can make it, Id say your through the toughest part, the first 5 days.
