It's not easy trying to fix our own thinking with our own thinking. I tried that for years and stayed out for years. Just sayin', what worked for me was to listen to other peeps thinking for a minute. Addicts who have walked in my shoes and got thru to the other side in one piece. The recovering addict is our addiction's worst enemy.

HI JJ, not too much experience with modern meth here, but lots of disasters with crystal meth back in my playing-out band days in the 70's. I went through that tunnel quite a few times til I got to the point that I figured what goes up must eventually come back down again. Sort of like paying back a big loan.

Coming down became a tunnel to me. I had to get through the tunnel and back out to freedom, and it takes about 4 days to get through it.

You literally need to take it one minute at a time. ...got through this minute, time for the next minute. Soon you'll get used to the minutes, which will turn into hours, then days. I wish you had a way to get into treatment. You haven't had much to eat most likely and you need IVs possibly? I go to NA and I have friends that have gone for help and got it. Clean from crank now. A few went to a Salvation Army detox and treatment center we have here in Detroit, and it was free (they ask for insurance if you have it, if you don't some how it still works out). (I really dunno how, maybe someone will come on here who does)

Detox from meth is an event, but as you found out, staying clean is a process that needs to become an everyday process. Don't look at your fall from sobriety as something that will always happen. I fell too. I learned that if nothing changes, nothing changes. The meth ain't going to ever change. The only thing I could change was my playground, my playmates and my playthings. That was the beginning. Then the change in me started taking place. As addicts we are forever changing for the good.

Don't go thru the tunnel alone. Round up all the support you can get; anywhere you can find it. You started here. This is good! Know that if you're trying to get clean, there is medical help out there. Getting clean is a positive move. Nobody will fault you for your past. Addiction is a disease, not a weakness of character.  You can do this.

Hi there!
So was this the same thing you quit before when you stayed clean 5 years?
Remember, the sleeping and body ache thing is of very short duration. The mental will last longer.

You can do this. A few days of sleeping.. I know I wish sleeping had been a side affect when kicking my DOC, pain meds, I would have loved to sleep through WD! Though not making light of kicking your DOC. But you can DO this!

If you work can you take a few days off? Maybe a Friday and a Monday? WD over a long weekend. Then get yourself to a meeting, counselor, whatever type aftercare you feel comfortable with. Cause you do have a mental battle ahead. But think, you obviously want to quit, you have posted here, great first step! Chasing that high gets old, huh? Your new, happier life is right around that corner, clean. Reach back in your mind and try to remember what is was like to wake up each morning, and being able to plan your day with fun stuff, or even work, just waking up without your first thought of the day getting high, or worrying cause your stash is low. Tell yourself, you're tired of being a slave. You're going to choose FREEDOM!!

Having friends that do this isn't going to work, but you probably realize this. Don't let their decisions to continue to live an unhappy life affect your decision, please.

Others will be along shortly. I just wanted to post to you, as its a slow time, and you have made that first step, reaching out. You can win this. The prize? Your freedom, happiness, self respect, but most of all, you're winning your  life. Addiction is a deadly disease.

Please post often!
