percocets and pregnancy

I really need advice I am 6 weeks pregnant and I have been taking percocets for years now.  When I found out about my pregnancy I stopped for a few days but the withdrawals were horrible and I did research and it showed that it could cause me to have a miscarriage especially because im still in my first trimester. I have been taking 1 10mg a day. This is my first time being pregnant and I really want my baby and want it to be healthy without any defects somebody please tell me what I shoould do

Hey Sweetie-

Women get pregnant on meds all the time.  Just tell your OB and they will advise you as to what to do.  Don't worry, just be honest.  Congratulations on your new life (:

Percocets can become addictive when taken long term, but I do not know whether you would have had bad withdrawal symptoms with taking 1 10mg a day.  I suppose everyone is different and even smaller doses can affect different people differently.  You should make an urgent appointment to see your doctor and discus this with him.

Because you are 6 weeks pregnant, the symptoms that you experienced or may still be experiencing, and think are "withdrawal symptoms", may very well be due to the pregnancy.

As you do not mention the "withdrawal symptoms" that you have or are experiencing it is difficult to determine whether they are actually pregnancy related.  You can find information about this medication on the web that explains the types of withdrawal symptoms that you could get.

I was not taking any medications before I became pregnant and at 6 weeks (not knowing that I was) I was extremely ill - one doctor put it down to a stomach bug!  After a whole week of being extremely ill, not being able to eat or drink and having severe migrainal headaches, I was given an injection of something that settled things down.

Don't presume that the symptoms you have or have had are "withdrawal symptoms".  Make an urgent appointment to see your doctor and discuss your pregnancy and concerns with him.

Hope your symptoms settle down and all is well in time.

Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes.

You need to get in to an OB and tell them what you have told us.  Be completely honest with them and they will help you get off those pills.

Yopu have to talk to ,your physician who is handling your pregnancy. ASAP to evaluate pregnacy risks. This is not a topic for an internet forum, nor for self-diagnosis and treatment.
