My experience has been the first 3 to 4 days have always been the worst. If i could make it through the first 3 days then i felt a little better. not 100% mind no where near, i still had chills, diahrrea, and sleeplessness for a good two weeks altogether. However it depends on how much u used, and how often.  I used to shoot up about a half gram at least daily. thanky God those days are over.  They can be for you too.

heroin withdrawal with heavy long term use will be about one week max. it will get worse and worse until about day four and then it slowly(time seems to freeze) gets better each continuing day.  everyone ranges different in how withdrawal from opiate effects them. my withdrawals consisted of major RLS(i fealt like I ran a 1000 mile marathon and was exhausted, aching, but at the same time couldnt sit still cuz i was soo uncomfortable), taht is quite common, i had fatigue, but i couldnt sleep for the life of me, the terrible anxiety you are crushed with is horrid, constantly thinking that dying would feel better than what youre going through, youre whole body aches, you sneeze, yawn , and tear up every 30 seconds, thats usually when you first notice youre starting youre withdrawals. one of the worst aspects of opiate withdrawals especially heroin or oxycontin is the blood pressure spikes, the sweats and chills, showers feel like needles nailing you like a hammer, you **** and puke at the same exact time, the anusea is extreme, you need eat good healthy meals, but tis so hard because nothing stays down. try and keep busy, excersise, eat well(soo hard i know), and keep youre mind from wandering it will omly make the mental side effects worse. Now if you are not out of control and have youre addiction under control, which is rare almost non-existent, then you could try tapering from heroin, but that honestly doesnt really work, you coudl try a different opiate to taper with but thats also playing with fire. the detox method they gave me witha  severe addiction to H and Oxys was clonidine, which is very useful in the sweats, chills, and blood pressure problems,a nd insomnia. lorazepam for the extreme anxiety and muscle aches and cramos, and conbulsions, and anti-nausea medicine injected, immodium for the diarrhea and runs, and eventually after the thrid day of hell I was seen by a suboxone doctor.he stated me at 4 mgs that night and then after a month moved to 32 mgs a day. since it had been three days since any opiates that first dose was amazing, it fealt like a line of oxycontin, it gave me a warm rush, and lasted all night and into the next day. that greatness lasted fora  couple of weeks and then i leveled off and really fealt nothing and the cravings got worse. after breaking my wrist 8 months alter i ended up back on opiates and am now on a methadone maintenance program and it definitely is helping alot more than suboxone. both withdrawals from the two drugs are long, butal, and def. not easy, but under a good doctors supervision you can slowly taper and it wont be too bad. i dont recommend going cold turkey to anyone with any level of addiction or opiate. i went CT anytime a thousand times during times of drought or hopelessly waiting for something to turn up. it is utter hell and with no drugs to ease the mental and physical hell youre body goes through, its damn near impossible especially with H. i would highly recommend not to try getting off of it youreself, dont be embarrassed or worried about asdking for help, it could save youre life and deopending on youre level of addiction either sub or methadone, along with NA + group meetings and counseling therapy will be a better choice than going alone.best of luck to you....

From my experience it takes about a week the first 3-4 days are the worst.  I couldnt eat, sleep, constantly using the bathroom.  I found that nerve pills helped me get through it, but I was a seroius addict.  Xanax mainly I would take enough to just knock me out and I tried to sleep as much as possible.  if you dont mind me asking how much were you using?  unfortunantly for me I was clean for 2 1/2 years and for the past month I have been using almost everyday.  It is a life long battle but you CAN do it.  If you want to talk I am here because I have been through it all.   I wish you all the luck in the world and stay strong.  I personally gave in to temptation.  but if you really want to be clean just try to make through the worst couple of weeks and will feel like a new person.  Good luck and God Bless!

I agree with lesa...
Mine lasted about 6 days for the worst of it....

Hot water bottle and HOT baths really helped me.

It takes about 5 to 7 days for acute, the harsher symptoms and a few weeks for the real annoying ones to subside the joint pain rls, a hot water bottle works great for that as it can go with you..lesa

i have never been addicted to heroin so this is just a supportive post...heroin is really morphine but usually heroin is snorted or used intravenously...i do know that alot would depend on how much and how long u used..it is a narcotic just like what most here withdrew from and is a bit harder that some meds but not as hard as others to withdraw from like fentanyl, methadone, or even a high quantiry oxycontin user may have a longer  withdrawal as an equivelent heroin user......the "rush" that heroin gives as it is used all at once in bulk is what makes it hard to withdraw from due to the receptor changes in the brain....snorting/chewing and Iv use is always harder during detox...perhaps someone who has used this can help u...carissaLou can help but has not posted in a while.....i will pm her and see if she can help

Not sure, but some people on here have said that it is actually faster than the vicodins or hydros.
