how long before the buprenorphine wears off/

Going to a suboxone doc Mon of next week. To get started which will be great. I can maintain until then with "just enough"  items to keep me from getting sick. My question is My friend gave me a Buprenophine tablet 8mg to help with my withdrawals now, which is fine i guess. But i doubt it will last until then. i will need some thing else to keep me from getting sick. But doesn't Buprenorphine counteract most opiates? did i screw myself by taking this? so close only four more days because i know i have to go to doc sick. Thats ok when there is a light at end of tunnel. my DOC is herion

1 bup should not completely cancel out other opiates....  If you took a bunch and then took the opiate then it would...

You know what? I don't know what to tell you. I'm surprised you didn't get sick with that 8mg. Is it Subutex? Were you feeling any withdrawal when you took it?

I know but if you go in with any chemicals in your system you will regret it! Only advil or ibprophine!

ran out of H yesterday morn. took the bup today in the morning, 8 mg sublingual. felt ok most of day. i can wait till tomorrow morning. but if i wake up "sick" tomorrow and have a chance to feel better with a bag of H. will the Buprenorphine block it after 24 hours? if it will then i will not  do the H why waste the money. I will call out and hide in bed even though i can t afford to. but i will be no good at work.

That's true. But, did you run out of H today? When was your last dose? You took 8mg of Bup or 2?  Just curious about this...

To answer your other question, this is what I know to be true: Bup has a very long half life AND is eliminated at different rates with everyone. So, any opiate may not work and it would be a waste OR you'd keep taking pills until you felt something and you'd get sick...

Hi,

I just ran out of H. Was starting to feel crappy. So i took a Buprenorphine. Thats what the bottle said. Felt better. but i doubt it will last until mon. I will have a chance to take another opiate to help withdrawal tomorrow (WED) thru (SAT). but my question is even though im starting to feel the w/d again if i take a opiate the Buprenorphine will cancel it out.  sorta like why waste the money. how long before a opiate will have a effect on me if i took the bup today?

Okay. Did he give you Subutex or Suboxone? Have you taken it already? When was your last dose of H?

I wouldn't mess with the Sub before Monday. You don't want to do anything to interfere with the induction he'll be doing.

Also the longer your clean the better the subs will work. Your withdrawal needs to be in full effect

I was on methadone 90 mgs and tapered to 30mgs because I wanted to switch to suboxone. I had to go threw a hellish 48 hours. Your not suppose to take anything 48 hours befor your first suboxone dose or you'll go into sever withdrawals. As my doctor said. Suboxone wasn't right for be but I hope all goes well with you. Good luck!
