hydrocodone withdrawal

I have been addicted to hydocodone off and on for over 10 years.  I have been in detox before.  I am detoxing at home now by taking tramodol to help with the withdrawal pain.  Am I just replacing one drug with another?

I was addicted to tramadol for 7 years. Yes, that is replacing one drug for another. Tramadol is an opioid analgesic. It basically makes the receptors in your brain think your taking opioids.  It isn't supposed to be addicting but several people in here can tell you otherwise.

I would say you were, you can take them but in very low amounts and try and miss days here and there. You should be ok if your doing it that way, but just be very aware Tramadol are a whole other beast to kick if you end up hooked. I would give them a wide birth if it were me but it's your choice not mine! Please be careful my friend, swapping pills won't get you truly free, you'll just end up with another detox to suffer!

I am going to ween down from 5 trams a day to 0.  When I ween down will I have the the terrible withdrawal pain or will I be OK.  I do not feel like I feel when I take the hydrocodone.  I just feel OK, allowing me to work etc.  When i detoxed before the depression was the issue.  I could not deal with that and I do not feel the depressed while taking the trams.

Trams also have an anti depressant effect and that detox is worse than hydros. Like Dig said, be extremely careful and skip days if you use them at all. I think they will reduce symptoms, but make them last longer. Clonodine would be beyter IMO.

I'm sorry to say this but your already truly relying on them, like Weaver said they have antidepressant property's so they are masking your true person! In my opinion, I would just drop them and try what Weaver suggested. At least that way you can assess you depression head on, you never know it might not be as bad as you worry it will be! (Hope not). How long and how many have you been taking them?

yesterday  took five and today I havae taken 3.    I won't take anymore today and will skip tomorrow.  I only have 15 trams so when they are gone I hope I will be OK.  I have been addicted to heroin and hydrocodone.  When I could not get these drug I always fell back on trams and it was the trams I used to kick the herion addiction.  I have never heard of anyone ever being addicted to trams.  My connection for the hydocodone does not even sell trams.  Even my friend do not want them.

Good for you wanting to get clean and take your life back. I also had a supply of trams cause I thought they were a joke and never took them choosing my beloved hydro's instead. However when I ran out of hydro's and couldn't face w/d I took the trams to bridge the gap. I hate to say it, but all it did was put my w/d on pause cause as soon as I stopped the trams I picked up in detox hell just where I left off. Your better off taking a few days off of work and planning on biting the bullet. Keep pumping in the vitamins and protein and hydrate yourself well. I know this isn't fun, but you CAN do this. Rooting for you.

You have already kicked some major addictions so I hate to see you falling into the TRAM trap! I really hope FOURJAYS or MOLYTEX sees this post! When I first started detox I thought about turning to trams to help WD's! Their stories about tram h3ll encouraged me to just bite the bullet! You asked and we are telling you TRAMS ARE ADDICTIVE and you should be very careful! I'm glad you are weaning off of them! YOU CAN DO IT!
