i need help with tramadol taper after 10 yrs of abuse

Hi everyone.  I need some advice with a taper schedule for tramadol. As of July 2, 2014, the government has classified this as a controlled substance and it is now a schedule IV.   I've been on it for 10 yrs.  I currently take 10 pills a day...5 in the morning and 5 in the evening.  I have searched and searched for some advice for someone who has taken them as long as I  have.  My actual scrip from my health care provider is 4 pills per day.  I have purchased the rest online to supplement my addiction but now with the new law I only have until August 18th, when the law goes into affect, to stockpile them.  I wont have nearly enough to do a super long taper, so I have no choice to do a 3 month one max.  Any help would be appreciated.  Like I said, right now I only have to go from 10 per day down to 4 per day.  Thanks!

ok I understand.  I just wanted to go from 10 pills to 8 pills of the bat would be too fast.  my dr doesn't believe they are addictive so he's no help, unfortunately.  Also I have a medical condition where I need pain management so if anyone found out that I ended up getting addicted to this stuff that would basically ruin my life as far as pain management goes.  Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Hi & Welcome, I am hun but it is a violation of our guidelines to provide taper schedules. We do not know your medical background and it would be reckless for us to advise you online. that being said, once you begin your taper we will support you and make recommendations for OTC supplements that may ease the process.

If you can get honest with your doctor and ask for a proper schedule that would be great. Stick around and let us know how you are doing.
