is methadone withdrawal worse than Vicodin withdrawal?

After being addicted to Vicodin, when I realized I was addicted I searched out help but there was none, after 24 hours of the worse pain I could imagine, I ended up in hospital where I was given Methadone, due to being disabled and living in pain they have kept me on it for 10 years. I am horrified at what will happen if I have to stop talking them. Are the withdrawal symptoms worse with methadone than with Vicodin?

Hi Usertolong:)  When I was on methadone I did a long and slow taper.  I didn't have a bad withdrawal experience at all. I was a heroin user before so I like you worried about the detox being like that.  I was taking methadone for pain at 30ml. I tapered long and slow over years and had no withdrawal symptoms. I also talked with my doctor   she prescribed clonadine and nausea medication. My psychiatrist has me taking a antidepressant, mood stabilizer and a low dose benzo. I was so scared to imagine not taking it and reading all the horror stories worried me.  But I did it. Today is my 166 day off of methadone:) I found my energy was low and thats about it. I hesitate to mention this but i also smoke weed. This is controversial to some and IMO helps greatly.
