I need help with painkiller addiction

I started taking Hydrocodone about 4 years ago for Endometriosis. I had my daughter in March 2007. Two weeks after having my daughter, my father was diagnosed with Cirrohsis of the liver and was given less than 6 months to live. He died in May 2007 and my addiction has gradually gotten worse since then. I thought I had a handle on it last November, but I was fooling myself and have been ever since.

I have only been off the meds for 4 days and am in agony! I am embarrassed and humiliated and can't seem to find support during this time. I feel that my friends are shutting me out and my husband doesn't really understand what I am going through. I don't know what to do and need help!

I am sure you know  vicodin is hard on the liver, so you would not want to end up with liver problem like your Father, please wean yourself of the meds, this is an excellent method to discontinue taking them,
It requires a great deal of self control. If you are taking 10 pills per day, for the next 4 days take 9, for 3 days after that take 8, for

Thank you so much for the message. I am 6 days off my meds, having a little anxiety, but all is well. I had a terrible weekend when I came clean with my mom and brother. I can't say it was a big mistake because it helps to talk about it, even it if is with someone who does not understand. My hardest challenge, though, is going back to work tomorrow and having to face my boss and manager. I am having a meeting with them in the morning due to me taking some emergency vacation last week because of my addiction.

So, this message couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you so very much!

No one seems to understand do they, but you know if you get through this alone you will have won a battle and by your self,it will make you stronger, take it slowly on the Meds, if you have come off them cold turkey you will feel horrible ,stick with it ,it will pass, at the most awful time say over and over " I am okay it will pass, nothing is happening to me it will pass'and you will feel better its a kind of brain washing of you. You have been through a lot with your Dad but you have a daughter, how wonderful, get busy with her ,lots of Fun and Games, make friends with other Women with children.Keep your mind occupied it is often simply out thoughts that make us feel bad.
