long term effects

can there be long term metal effects, after you quit taking perscription pain killers such as codien, hydrocodien, or oxycodien, If the useage was actually abuse like 3 7.5-750 percs at a time like 3 or 4 times a day. My ex-wife has a problem and she wouldnt listen to me and in a way i feel its not my place to say anything but she is really looking bad and she is going threw extreme mental problems that didnt occur till after the usage started getting bad.

Yes, there can be long term problems. The drugs tend to numb/mask any emotional issues or stress issues that have developed during....well...life. :)

When you stop, you lack the ability to produce the proper natural chemicals to cope with the every day stresses of life, let alone the larger problems that started the addiction.
It takes time to heal from this, but there are treatments that can help.

One question; it sounds like your wife is having these problems but is still using...? If so, the same is true. Addicts tend to be in a continual state of flux/imbalance. They either have to many chemicals in their system, and so are numbing themselves and not properly coping, or they're not getting enough, and are hyper sensitive. Keep in mind you don't have to appear sick or wasted for this to be true.
