lortab withdrawals

Help!!!  Yesterday was my first day off lortab.  8-10/10mgs per day.  Yesterday I thought I would rather die.  I have read many froums and many people say the 3rd and 4th  day are hardest.  Is this true?  I do not think I can survive another day like or worse than yesterday.  I took vicks cold med and benadrhyl for sleep and I did sleep well.  I need to be at work but I called in sick because I do not want to be around anyone when I feel like this.  Today does seem better than yseterday, though.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Anything that is positive would be especially apprecaited.  I know it is worth it in the end.....but going through it is hell.  I have tried weaning off but it only caouses me to more than I was taking before.  I do not have anyway to go to detox.....much too expensive.  I think cold turkey will work, but then what do I do for the pain in my knee?

Don't worry about work. If you really had an illness you wouldn't worry and you do have an illness that your very strong to try to wd from. Everyone is different with wds. For me it was kinda the same day 1 through 4 then I got better, but I had some times when I felt somewhat better in between. Time seems to stop and the days go so slowly. Try to relax   deep breaths.. and know that its a matter of days and you will feel human again...I promise. I'm in my first day for the umteenth time. PM me anytime you need xtra support. Corey

Thank you so much for your input!  Your advice about work was very helpful.  I took this AM off and told them I had the flu.  Actually symtoms are similar.  I will go to work this afternoon.  And I will remember your advice.

I wish you the best of luck with your first day of umteenth time.  This is also not my first time.  I was totally off them for months at one time.  I have a very painful knee.  I get the lortab for the knee, and then, of course, along comes the abuse.  And PM me back anytime, also!  stannab

Congrats on getting your life back...I also could not do a good taper, and just went c/t from about 15 10mg a day, I would somedays take more.....For me Day 3 and 4 were the worst...My worst symtom was RLS...The only real relief i had was from
1.Hot baths...ALOT of them
2.clonodine...has to be presribed, Works wonders.
3.immodium Ad, the liquid

Look at the health pages on this site and there is very good info on vitamins, and aminos that help....I really believe in trying to stay busy, even if you can't go to work, try to Get your mind busy, either watching a movie, doing paperwork, reading this forum etc...
I watched alot of home movies, of before i was addicted, and how happy i looked, clean, and i just wanted to be that way again...I wanted to look clean, and feel it, but to also be happy again...It does happen, it just takes time...I have a wonderfull husband and 4 kids, I could not let them down...
I wish you the best...Remember the mind is so powerfull....I am praying for you...YOU can do this!!!!!

Thanks so much for your input.  Sorry to be such an illeriate but what is RLS ?  I did go to work today for a few hours and it was good to take my mind off the agony, but I felt terrible and very confused with no energy.  Today has been pretty good compared to yesterday but with everyone saying day 3 is worst I do not think I can handle that after how bad Sunday (day 1) was.   Also what is clonidine used for? Immodium tab;ets have been working great for me today. Thanks again, Beth

RLS - Restless Legs Syndrome AKA The Jimmy Legs
Can't get comfortable, kicking the covers about, cramping, aching... It decreases. I hear that potassium (bananas) help with that. Motrin. Hot bath. When you feel up to it, take a walk... even if it is at the speed of an 8000 year old... It will help with energy as well. Good Luck! You can do this... Countless others here are proof of that.

I was at ur dose...took 4 days off of work...day 1 being worst and better each day as far as the physical aspect of addiction goes anyway...back to work day 5

icing helps alot right now..they have straps to place ice bags on ur jpints and still move around...even rig it up with an ace wrap...Ibuprofen, stretching, massage....when u do not have the narcotics...u can become very creative with alternative pain relief modes...think outside the box

Thanks for your response. Most people say day 3 has been their hardest.  Since this is day 3 for me, I can hardly bear it.  Day1 was so awful I really can't go through that again.  I need to work today.

I am considering having a friend help me wean.  stannab
