Lack of energy and motivation took 6 months to return. I honestly started to accept that I had done permanent damage to my brain, but it went away. I had such a hard time with doing anything for so long. I felt like I was dragging myself around and only did the bare necessities. I was on a high dose for a long time, so it usually only take people 3 months to get of their butts, not me. I'm looking forward to the future again and am going snow boarding and even got a new job. I didn't do anything for fun for a long time, just didn't care. I did meetings and hung out here. Recovery was all I could handle. It does get better, that's what people kept saying, so I just had faith in that, it worked out awesome in the end. Exercise was hard, but it helped me feel better. Time is the thing that really does it. Keep up the good fight, you won't regret it, trust me.

Like they said do not leave. When you do get clean and clear headed you will be able to help out other addicts. Just SLOW DOWN take a BREATH they told me that for my first 3 months. We all have different experinces but we all our the same. My experience was high anxiety for 30 days then I went threw different stages. I was on the methedone plus 2 other drugs for over 12 yrs that pulled ny nervous system in many directions. I still believe it has alot to do with how long, how much and how old you are remember I said I am a 56 yr old F and had been an addict since I was 14yrs old. I am coming around quickly. You are tapering thats a good thing I went cold trukey from 30mg of 12yrs on methedone plus the adderall and benzos I was snorting. John PLEASE Just ride it out it DOES GET BETTER. Also I heard that the BP medications intense the methedone so maybe talk to DR.
I too had been nursing for over 27yrs and never new what I know now SHOULD  of COULD of Remeber you are taking the FIRST STEP to a NEW WORLD A NEW LIFE.
YOU WILL GET BETTER MIN BY MIN DAY BY DAY I promise!!!!!!
I have been wanting to get back with for days now but I am in that have no interest stage but to go to meetings. Hey weaver or anybody did you go with that no interest stage? Getting Better

Hey John, don't think anyone feels bad toward you, it's just frustrating when people don't seem to be able to help. You seem like you are on a marry go round that's moving so fast that we can't get to you. Don't stop hangin with us, just do some of things advised and let us know how it goes. I really hope you follow up with the anxiety tests. I've been busy getting things in order for my new job, I haven't avoided you. Everyone here really wants to see you feel better.

We all have issues and no one is asking you to leave. I think we just are concerned that you keep asking the same thing over and over and then you are getting yourself worked up and anxious and that is not healthy for you. Sometimes too much information isn't a good thing. In your case looking at this situation from the outside its best you listen to ONE person and that be your doctor. We are all addicts here and that we all have in common. We are your friends, just worried about ya that's all. ((hugs))

Bkitty is absolutely right John, and I've told you the same thing.  Your obsessive thoughts are not allowing you to think rationally through this process, you are overanalyzing everything.

You really need to seek some help for this...you know that as well.  The more you continue seeking answers and asking the same question all over the web, you're only throwing gas on the fire that is your anxiety.

Also, your anxiety is keeping you from doing the right thing where your health is concerned...you were recommended to have an angiogram for a failed stress test and didn't, due to anxiety.  This is affecting your life negatively John.  That's something you should hacve had done right away.

PLEASE seek some help with this anxiety.  There's really nothing more we can tell you....we've been over the same thing so many times...your anxiety is not allowing you to accept the info.

Good luck to you dear.

Hey there! I see your still struggling with this. I think its time to go back to the psych doctor and tell him you need this anxiety/OCD addressed. I think you are doing yourself more harm than good at this point. I know he wanted to wait till you were weaned off but I think you need an intervention. Please just listen to the doctors at the clinic. Everyone is different. Take care of yourself. ((hugs))

John, you're doing just fine...the clinic is tapering you nice and slowly.  This is why I said to stop the online searching, all you're doing is confusing yourself and causing more anxiety.

You'll get a thousand different opinions when it comes to this kind of thing.

Whats going on , i would like to ask a question if ok? i met this dude on topix another methadone site, any ways i told him what was going on with me. he said im withdrawling first he said stop decreaseing for now. o ya hes been drug free for two thousand something days, off of methadone. he said methadone shouldnt be more than 10 per cent of a dose. at one time or faster than 10 to 14 day intervals. he said i defintely put myself into withdrawls that i shouldnt feel the way i feel. he said if i continue the current rate it will get worse. so what should i do , i dont know how much worse it can get?

Those are definitely common symptoms of w/ds.  If the nausea persists, talk with your doctor.  There are some really good meds you could take "as needed" for when the nausea is bad.

Hey John!  I think looking for a job would be a great idea!!!  It wilkl keep you busy, keep your mind off things (which will help with the anxiety a lot), plus, you'll be bringing in some cash (that's always good!)

I think you should give it a shot!

I think you'll feel better as you go down around 40mg, where you started. Your tolerance is higher now, so 40mg is probably what you need now to feel right. You'll likely start to feel tired again around 20 or 30mg, as you will be on too low of a dose for your tolerance. Luckily you aren't going to be on methadone for a year. It accumulates in fat and bones, so the longer you take it the harder it is to detox. Like Gnarly always says, you just have to be comfortable with not being comfortable for awhile.
