Rapid Drug Detox
Hi...
I have read about Rapid Drug Detox. Have anybody try this Detox, and what thinks people who have try this Rapid Drug Detox? I am from Norway, and we don’t have this Detox here, but I think they have it in Amsterdam and Spain.
I have been at rehab-center for 2 years, and stay clean for 5 year before I was so stupid that I wanted to try heroine again. After that I went on Subutex and now methadone 200 mg after illness from hep C treatment. I am finish with hep C treatment at few weeks and want to get down 10 mg in a week to the methadone is down to 20-50 mg before Detox too zero.
I have been on Subutex and methadone for several years now, and I want to stop with all opiates and stay clean again.
The best time in my life was when I was clean for 5 years..... :)

Is anyone still using this thread? I am about to do a an 8 day Accelerated Opiate Detox. I hear mixed stories which is frustrating.
Dr. &%#% of the &%#% Institute was my primary care doctor years and years ago so I feel comfortable with this choice. He is one of the pioneers of this procedure also.
I am very athletic and healthy. very low BP and HR, no disease, good blood work. Its been several days since my last low dose of methadone. So I am trying to reinforce my confidence by doing some research here. The only thing negative I find about these procedures is in forums on the internet. And many people seem to confuse "ultra rapid" with "accelerated"... they very different from what I have learned.
Are people going to places without good reputations? Are people doing this while trying to kick a "mountain a day" habit? I am looking for comments from people who were good candidates and went to reputable places.
I read one comment that said naltrexone blocks the natural endorphins so it causes severe depression. huh?? that cant be true.
I read some stories where people were in WD's for days after the procedure... huh??? That makes no sense. Either the doctor kicks it out of your system or he doesn't.
Can anyone comment on this:
I had a one month percoset and "snorting heroin" habit and then did a 30mg/day methadone for 7 months... does this sound like something that could cause PAWS?
I am trying to decide if I need to take some time off from school.

I Just went thru the modified rapid detox a certain Dr. has changed a few things. First of all methadone and suboxone have super long have lifes. you have to be off of subs and methadone for atleast 3 weeks. u can be put on another med like oxy until the procedure. He wont even do the procedure if you have been on those long half life drugs. next you need to find an actual board certified anasthesiologosts. I was on a heafty dose of oxy right up to the procedure. you need to make sure this is done in an actual operating room. not a dr office. his procedure keeps you under for 8 hours. I woke up with zero physical withdrawls and had round tthe clock care from a rn that never left my side for 72 hours. I felt great. It worked wonderfull. message me for his information if you are interested. he has zero incident rates and I was pt 400. IM jut I hast 12 days clean but feel like I have a huge head start
I have read about the dangerous aspect with this Detox. Yes, and I would not go to the Detox before I had get the methadone down to maybe 20 mg and in god shape....

Chemster you also have a medical issue so it really is so important that you really know what the doctor is doing and he is very skilled ...
Not only are they NOT for everyone if its not being preformed by physians that really know what they are doing they can be very DANGROUS... Thats not hear say from other posts that from reported deaths so keep that in mind as well.
First worried878, I have used Subutex most of the time after I was clean in 5 years. After that I started with methadone. You cannot mix Subutex and methadone. Methadone is a better pain killer than Subutex, and after I get very ill after Hepatitis C treatment I had to change to high doses methadone.

Chemister - HealthySquid and I both went through the same detox program. It was NOT a "Rapid Detox", but a slower form of the same technique. The information is very controversial on Rapid Detox - it can be dangerous and it takes quite a bit of time to recover from. Sjoggie went through a Rapid Detox and had a rough time, but I think that she should share more of her details with you - if you are interested and she is willing.
In any event - the information that HealthySquid presented was factual and I don't think he had any intent to "sugar coat" either detox technique. From the experience that all three of us had, I can tell you that the initial detox was an experience, but the recovery period following was much longer than any of the detox centers will tell you and we all had our own series of "complications". The one thing that we all have in common is that we are all opiate free and we have all stayed that way. It was not an easy road for any of us. The bottom line here is that addicts seek a quick easy way to go through withdrawal with minimal pain and suffering. Even though there are "rapid" and "accelerated" detox programs - neither of them are a quick fix. I did not experience the "rapid" detox, but I would say that the symptoms following either rapid or accelerated are pretty similar and it's no cake walk. Look into your options seriously before making a decision and spending lots of time and money. The best bet it to attempt to taper down on your own as best you can before seeking any other type of detox help.

I believe the question was about Rapid Detox, which I have knowledge of, as I did it.
You may not like my negative comments, but I assure you if I had found this board before I did the rapid detox, I would have appreciated all negative or any positive comments. It would have saved me a lot of grief and a tremendous toll on my body.
I have since heard of the accelerated detox from another member of this community and had I known of it I would have no doubt opted for it.
I really think this board is for all responses. When you write in I would at least not like to only hear the sugar coated version of things. What good does that do?

I, as well as some others, have done an "accelerated detox." This is a modified procedure that is much easier on the body therefore giving the body time to adapt.
This type of detox is either done over a 3 or an 8 day period depending on how high of a dose you were taking as well as whether it was suboxone or straight opiates.
No, this is not for everyone however, it was for me. I was taking consuming more opiates for prescribed REAL pain in an amount that was higher than 99% of the people here. I decided that the pain meds themselves were causing the pain. I tried to taper but could not do it. I did the accelerated detox and in 3 days, was totally free. I had absolutely no withdrawals. The only physical ailment from the opiates to which lingered was that it took me a couple of months for my body to begin regulating temperature again.
It was said before and I agree that this type of detox does not address the mental addiction. I guess I am fortunate that I was not addicted, only dependent. I have had absolutely no cravings after the detox in part because of an opiate blocker implant combined with a non addictive personality.
If you want to know more, pm me and I will direct you to some websites as well as some other people here to which I personally know who went through the same procedure and had the same awesome results.
You have to remember that when you post a question asking for opinions, the most likely response is going to be negative. Many more people post negative responses about everything in the world they touch, buy, or come in contact with yet few people get on the net to praise a product, procedure, or anything else. Also take note that alot of people respond based on heresay that they read from other's posting and therefore had formed a very uninformed opinion.
Again, is this type of procedure for everyone? The resounding answer is a "NO!" Much depends on what you were honestly consuming in type and quantity as well as your personal medical history. Only you and, preferably, an addiction specialist can make this type of informed decision.
Sorry to get a little on the ole soapbox. I also don't mean to offend. I only want to present facts.

I did the rapid detox and would not recommend it! Basically, what happened was I was put to sleep and then given naltrexone, I believe to remove the opiates from the receptors.
Well, when you wake up you are in withdrawal big time and will depending on where you go get pills thrown at you to hopefully make you less sick. They didn't find a good mix of pills for me and I was sick when I left the hospital. It is a long story but you better research the heck out of this if you plan to do it and make sure you can talk with former patients. Not just "patients" that work for the rapid detox place. You should be able to get 5 to 10 names YOU call.
I got to come home and have my doc finish the detox. I should have stayed here and saved all that money.

u take both methadone and sub? I am sure I misunderstood?
I have not done rapid detox//but a few here//no longer here..did this and were angry cos of the money they spent on it and they still felt awful,,,mental wds are the worst part and this does not stop that from occurring..People will spend alot of money in an effort to avoid physical wds due to fear..and fear can paralyze u and make u move backwards vs forward...i have studied this procedure and personally do not see how it can help too much..u cant miraculously make someone clean in a procedure and there r risks associated with it as well//and costly//look into it//talk to the drs there..course they r selling this procedure and making tons of money on it..google it..try and find someone else who has done it...alot of getting clean is being ready mentally to be clean..then seeking aftercare and the support u need...
Hopefully someone who has done this will post//but not many have tried this//only seen maybe 5 or 6 in the 2 yrs I have been here and none were happy with the result..perhaps they had falso expectations..i dont know..but be safe and educate urself before u do anything like that
