narcotics..quitting narcotics/heroin/vicodin/etc...help!

Hi, im new to this forum but i read some good posts and decided to join..

I have been on a 1 month daily heroin binge..and im trying to quit now but its hell and i cant! I bought some vicodin and suboxone off the streets to help me stop but i still cant.  I actually hate suboxone even though i heard its a miracle drug...

What are your thoughts? anyone been in my place before? how do you deal with that?

for some of us, its all or nothing and tapering of or substituting does not work. no doubt u told urself several days during ur 1 month binge that this was ur last day but it didn't work out so maybe u cant quit on ur own right now but u can probably stay stopped once u stopped.if u can't do it on ur own, getting admitted to a detox centre is the best thing u can do cos after all its heroin, u might have the will, desire, courage and all else that is needed to get of it now but the physical hardship could beat u again n again and keep u a slave for far longer than u want to.

i too tried on my own for quite some while with opioids like codeine and recently and long ago heroin but i could never really get off of everything on my own. I was in a rehab/detox throughout november 08 (didn't stay for the 3 months they wanted me to) and came out just about 10 days earlier and so far am clean and it feels awfully good being out of the prison of addiction.

of course staying stopped is another matter altogether as commander said and I am finding out too (that is y i am here) but that comes later for u

hey. im new here too. went on a 3 month herion binge, detoxed...got in a bad car wreck and got back on whatever i could find. mostly roxycet and oxy. im now trying to quit. i have had experience with what you are going through. try the modern-day chinese water method. slowly taper off. its the best way. suboxen can help but its more trouble than its worth. you dont get high and while you're taking it, you cant take narcotics or you'll get real sick. i found the best way to quit is to revert to vicodin or percocet. just take a little less each day til you find that you no longer NEED It. once you dont need it, the want is all you have to control.
control is the key. once an addict, always an addict but if you can control the urge every day you're doing well. dont say you cant. CANT is the easy way. its too easy to just get high rather than go through the hell of detox. you (and i) are stronger than our addictions.

ok. now i need help too. ive been on and off herion most of my short 26 years. a few months ago, i detoxed (again) and swore i was over it. then i crashed my truck and have been using the pain from my fractured vertebrae as an excuse to shoot pills. been on roxys and oxys for about 2 months now and i want desperately to break free of the hold they have on me. i want to start a family but i need to be clean permanently to do that. i need a support group to turn to when i want to get pills.  any advice for a professioanl addict?

Firstly i would like to say welcome! This place is good for advice, support and many other things, so keep posting.

I was a Heroin addict for 8+yrs, i do know what this evil poison does to a person. I dont really know much about vicodin and suboxone, so i can not really comment on them. I do know that people on here have said Suboxone have saved them, so it depends on what you want to do to help yourself.
I quit c/t from Heroin, not very pleasant shall we say, but it is achievable! I dont want to say it is going to be easy if you follow this route, but if you really want it, you can do it!

Anyway, feel free to PM me if you have any questions. More people will be around later and they could give you some advice on the pills, like i said i dont know anything about them so i will leave that for the people who know more about them
Keep us updated and i wish you all the strength to get through this! Take care
