need help getting off oxycotin

I have been on 30mg 2x a day Oxycontin for a while now.  My doctor wanted me to take 7/325 to a leave the break threw pain but I have tried very hard not to do this because I don't want to take anymore of this stuff than I have to.  I really want to come off of it all together and I was wondering if anyone out there has any good words of wisdom as to how to do this all by my self.  I have no friends and limited family.  I am a single parent of two children and need to be able to take care of them even though I stay home due to being disabled from my severe depression.  I need some really good advice because I am determined to stop at all costs.  I know that as soon as my body needs it I start to get very emotional and start crying immediately and shaky.  I realize it is going to suck but I don't want to be on it anymore and would rather feel the back pain that I have then to be on this crap.  Please help!
ps  do you think I could get away with substituting the percs for the oxys and weening my way off that way little by little ?

I am doing the same thing from 50mg 3x per day. I would say just go as LONG as you can without it. I set my goal at 24 hours. The first day I made it like 18. Then the next like 25-16. Then the next like 22. About day 5 I made it to 40mg a day I think. LONG story short like two weeks later I am going to drop to 10mg once per day and be done in a day or two. It has been BRUTAL but doable. Nothing as brutal as cold turkey. Not even close. BUT had I gone that rout I would be feeling rig has rain right about now two weeks later. Good luck.

hey you sound like you know what you are talking about and I would really appreciate keeping intouch with you if you don't mind.  I don't know many people and it sure helps to hear from others who have gone through some of the same things...I hope and pray I can do this.  I don't know how I am going to do it yet but i am determined to do so.  So wish me luck on my journey and I will keep you informed as to how I am doing

thanks again for answering me\

Hi Deb. We can not give you any tapering advice on this site becasue we are not Dr or know your health But we can in a round about way! ha!
First thing I would do is tell your Dr that you want off. He can give you a Taper Plan. I will say as you drop each time make it slow and steady and give you Brain/Body time to adjust to the drop. Unfortunately there is not easy way out from having some type of w/ds, but tapering should make it less intense and not go on & on forever it seems.
The detox part will be over soon so it is staying clean that takes some work.
I too could not taper and had to just jump off my dones with 2 other meds. I have been on this site for a while and have read many success stories for those who have been able to taper. The thing with a taper is that it is best to have them handed out to you. You are still feeding the Brain/Body and that Pleasure part of the Brain (mid-brain-survival) part will play the tape back for just one more, for whatever reason it tries to trick you.
Addiction is a Disease which can go into remission but never will go away..This is why we can not touch this stuff again. The more you Educate yourself on this the more you do not want to go back down this road again. SUPPORT is a Must!! We can not walk this Journey alone.
We have Lots of pain people on here that use other things for there awful pain in a more Natural or Non-addictive way. BUT the neatest thing about getting clean is that you will feel less pain!!
I wish you the best and if you stick around, we will hold your hand all the way through the Detox and give you some tips on what worked for us for many different reasons.

There is OxyContin and there is Oxycodone. Percocet is Oxycodone.

If oxy and percs are the same and I am on 30 mg of oxycotin twice a day how many percs could I take to start weening myself down each day?   I really want to get off of this and I have enough perc to do so.  Could someone tell me what I could do so that I can start taking the right amount?

If you can wean then wean.  Slow and steady until you get to a more comfortable jump off point.  Are you taking meds for your depression?  It is a very hard road, and many do not have the mental fortitude to wean.  Personally I just got to a point (100 mg of oxy) when I jumped.  But I had unlimited family support and no job at the time and could take the time to heal.  I feel for ya girl but just know that it doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you keep moving forward.  Here for support...

Perc and oxy are same thing. Oxy is just longer acting and percs are shorter. Need to talk to you dr about weening down.
