Today is day four for me and I know it's hard but you have to just try to think of something else. I quit with a whole bottle of norco in my purse and every time I thought oh just a half one will be ok I would go do so,etching else and it would go away or I would just come read this site about all of the other people that have been and are going through the same thing. Yesterday I finally got rid of them and it felt so good!!! Take a really hot bath and just lay there take some Advil and try to relax as much as you can.

There is a difference between dependence and addiction. If you need them to function and live a normal life because of the physical pain you're in, then there is no shame in that. You can definitely look into other options but if you can't physically tolerate the pain then don't do anything without speaking to your doctor first.

If you're not taking them to get high then you're dependent. Please talk to your doctor about maybe getting on a lower dose and finding an alternative, preferrably all natural. Please keep posting and let us know how you're doing.

How much are you taking per day and for how long? Are you taking them for just the pain or do you find yourself taking them for the "feel good" feeling?

I'm really sorry about the car accident and work accident. You've caught some bad breaks but you can turn your life around. There are many on here that deal with legit/chronic pain and can recommend ways to manage naturally. Life can get better and your loved ones will come around. It's time to focus on you for now. Keep posting! Cheering you on!

Have you tried other pain relief methods such as cortisone injections? Obviously its not an option to go without some kind of pain relief method. My mother has chronic pain due to herniated discs, back surgeries and a myriad of other physical ailments. She takes 10 mg hydrocodone, one per day. She's never abused them or become addicted (and with her level of pain I can't imagine how she hasn't.....she's an RN too, by the way). It's obvious you don't abuse your meds for pleasure. That's one major thing you have on your side. Just out of curiosity, why are you losing your loved ones? If you have a definite need for your meds, its not your fault that you were introduced to narcotic pain meds and you desire to end your dependence on them, so why aren't they behind you?
