norco withdrawl

I've been taking norco for apprx 1 and 1/2 years. I've decided to stop cold turkey. I've gone through w/d before many moons ago for something different! I don't feel like I can go see a doc in town because I work for another doctor and I'm afraid they will talk! I need some serious advice on how I can get though alone. Any suggesstion. Thank u

norco is the brand name but it IS hydrocodone. They are the same. norco, vicodin, lortab etc are all hydrocodone. now oxycodone and hydrocodone are different, however norco is hydrocodone.

I just wanted to say that my Dr. sent me for a drug test to see if I was taking the meds as perscribed. I take Soma 350 3xdaily, Neurotin 100's 3xdaily, Norco 10/325 3x daily, IBProphen 800's 3xdaily. Anyways my test results came back neg. for everything he ordered to be done. I was looking at my test results I called the pharmacy about the Norco if it had a form of oxycodone in it. She said no it has hydrocodone. That I knew. But my Dr. wrote me a letter that he no longer wants to see me, I have to find a new Dr. But I looked up Norco vs Hydrocdone and they are not the same pill nor are they related. He wrote a rude letter, and kicked me to the curb for nothing. He needs to know his meds.

Hope ur feelin better. Just wanted to say I have tried and failed CT and weaning so many times....Most recently I tried weaning w/suboxone. I can't wean. If you have self control then maybe you can? I have went CT from ultram hydro's and xanax successfully before. It's tough but doable. Get things in order. Ur responsibilities catch up around the house @ wk. Buy some things you'll need like crackers and juices, Imodium,aleve. Benzos or passion flower to help w/relaxing helps a bunch. Be as prepared as possible then do it w/ a positive outlook. I have never been able to do this. I'm more of a fetal position, I can't move let alone exercise, CT person.My husband on the other hand perseveres wks ect. For me the worst are days 3-4 by 5-6 I wked!!! You will feel better everyday. State of mind is paramount!
Now if I can practice what I suggest we'll both be good;) I have been off my DOC ultram day /15 or so. Now that I'm off that I've been on St. John's wort (herbal depression) for over a week. Currently still taking lortab 7.5( I was taking these w/ultram). Wonder what it will take to just do it again and stop CT....guess a stronger will.Good luck.

It matters how many a day???

3-4 is the most prescribed and that dose its easy.

But lets be real and assume you are like everyone else here including me  that did not take as prescribed
Sometimes  its not our fault bc we physically become dependent and dose creep to get same pain relief.

I appreciate everyones comments and I am just horified with what os to come.  I don;t want to lose my job...aaaaaaahhh I;m going crazy.  By what day honestly do you start to feel better if you ween yourslef off versus cold turkey?  Any help is good help, so thank you

u said u were on em for 5years how many were u taking and how often a day would u take em for??? just curious cause i was on em for 6 years

I don't want to rain on anybodys parade but I quit a 5 year norco habit cold turkey and it's very dooable(sp?) It wasn't that bad. Sometimes I think we psych ourselves out that it has to be terrible when it doesn't. Don't get me wrong, it was uncomfortable but I didn't feel like I was dieing or anything. I went to work through the whole thing. I had the usual symtoms, the runs and no energy. Immodium helps for the bathroom problem, the amino acids do wonders for the energy and overall well being. The one symptom I did go to the doctor about was the insomnia, a prescription for ambien solved that problem. You need to exercise from the very beginning, I used a stationary bike to work up a sweat for about 45 min. a day. Use up your last pills and just start the process, by next week you will be feeling so much better.

Yes, you are going to have a case of bad 'flu' for up to a week.  Just call in sick and prepare for the W/D's to come and go.  All the best.

you can do it but just prepare yourself that the first few days will SUCK bigtime. But it will pass eventually. Have you thought about weening?
