exercise and activity help alot...there is an article in my journal about the supps that can help gathered from a study we did on rls at our hospital..iron was very important as many were anemic...C helps u absorb the iron better..many do not eat right while using...also caffeine and nicotine aggravate it
RLS is one of the worst symptoms in my eyes. I hated it and the thought of it makes me cringe.
Try heating pads. Warm baths soaking in epsom salt. Hylands Restless Legs which can be purchased at any drug store. anything with Magnesium, and bananas. Bananas will work wonders. Do these and you should be ok. The heating pads will help. Also, when you feel the RLS hitting, get up and walk around for 10 mins, then go lay back down. If you notice, once you fall asleep the RLS goes away..so if you walk around your muscles will start moving around again and you should be able to drift to sleep prior to them getting resltess again. Good luck...
Eat lots and lots of bananas!! My rls was really bad too for the first couple of days and I just ate so many bananas and it helped tremendously. Also, I know it sounds impossible now, but try walking around. Even if you just walk around the house or take a walk around the street, it helps soooooo much. Hang in there you are just about halfway through this....oh and Welcome to our forum. Much love

Try eliminating the over the counter sleep aids.I was taking them when I was going through w/ds and there was a nurse on here, she hasn't been around for quite a while.who told me that sometimes over the counter sleep aids can make the RLS worse. She explained to me why but I can't remember off the top of my head.I'll try to find the old pm from her and let you know.Anyway I stopped taking them, they weren't helping with my sleep anyway, and it did calm down a bit.The things sara suggested to you really do work.Theres also something they sell at walmart called Hylands restful legs.Hang in there............Peace...........Kim
